I'll have to come back up so I can mess with the tractor some, and at least my shop didn't burn down! I'm never going to hear the end about you meeting my family....

Well I think if I came out that way I would probably leave my truck there till it was riding on bags.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

Well have not done much to the truck lately but started back on it some. Had to get the shop all cleaned up so that has taken a while.

I ordered all new brake lines for the truck. And also got everything else to finish plumbing the fuel system on it.

Also bought a dimondeye down pipe for a 2nd gen dodge and thought it would fit good but I have a different exhaust manifold than a dodge truck and so the turbo is mounted back and down more and so the down pipe has to be modified.

Should get the brake lines ran, get the exhaust mostly figured out and mount the fuel lines to the frame and then I should be able to drop the cab back on this bad boy.

Yes that is a storm block. And I know. I may paint those black before the cab goes on. Had to trade Ryan bell housings cause mine didn't have any alignment pins.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

Well this build is not dead. Just very slow. Finished up school and got a new job so things may end up picking back up on the truck. Mr. Ryanroo was kind enough to send me a new water inlet for my truck seeing as the stock industrial one would not work. Got it all hooked up and looks like everything will work out fine. Just need to get some more bolts to hold the fan hub in place and then measure for a new belt. Also have to weld a bung into the side of the new water inlet so I can hook the heater up as well.

A couple months ago I was trying to decide of I wanted to run a factory big block radiator or try to fit a 2nd gen radiator in the truck. The big block radiator I had needed to be replaced and so I just decided to go with a new 2nd gen radiator and not have any kind of problems hooking it up. So far it is half mounted. Going to have to get the body and hood on so I can tell how much I can come up with the radiator. It is setting to low so I have not finished mounting it yet. And I guess I never showed any pictures of putting a dodge fan hub on this industrial engine. Didn't want to have to run electric fans, and the industrial fan is way to big to run on this truck.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

Excellent. i like the idea of matching the Rad to the engine. not that you would have ever had issues, but at least now its something to forget about. glad the inlet worked! if you feel like it you can weld that relief cut in and sand it down where that tab is bent. i dont think it would matter, but you will be at it again with the welder so...

I thought about welding that relief together. But I figured it would be fine that way. I'm going to have to weld on it again anyway. Just have to buy a bung so I can hook up the heater.

Hey I am planning to convert my 1991 from 2 wheel to 4x4, did you have to change all the rear spring hangers or did they work for you.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

You have to change the rear spring hangers if you want to use factory springs. Otherwise you can get some lift springs. I mounted mine lower than what they where factory to get more lift and also did a shackle flip.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

I have the option of using spring hangers from my suburban or my K20. Which would be preferable? Did you use 3/8 by 1" NC grade 8 bolts for your swap?

I'm guessing that you are talking about a crew cab truck. All crew cabs have different spring spacing on the rear axle than any k10, k20, k5 and burbs do. So if you use k20 spring hangers you can swap the rear axle out of the k20 into the crew cab or you can cut the spring perches off the crew cab axle and move them the appropriate amount and be able to bolt it up. I used 1.5" 3/8 grade 8 bolts.
