Re: Used Parts Build

Those little lights work good. I might have to get me some for under the Jeep.

How well has that Krylon coating on the exhaust holding up?

For the price and the quality (at least as far as I can tell) they are really nice. Might get more if I find good spots for them.

I haven't driven it much but it seems to be holding up. The exhaust turbine is painted with the same stuff and under a blanket and its held up the same. While it scratched easily pre cured it seems to be okay now. Id try it again.

Re: Used Parts Build

My transmission was making a howling noise while in gear and stopped. It would go away in park and once driving though. After some research I figured the torque converter was bad. Bought a new one but hurt my back so it took a lot longer to get it in.

My wife got me this sticker. Hope it works through the computer so you can see it.

You can make your own custom ones so I was thinking maybe a link to your build here or something... This was better.

I'm glad someone appreciates it! I picked it for the recessional song at our wedding. She got to pick the processional song so I figured it was my time to shine.

Re: Used Parts Build

Replaced the leaking output shaft seal. Seems to be leaking a tiny bit still though from the yoke though. Any thoughts?

I have been driving it around my neighborhood a bit to get some shake down miles on it and not be to far from home if I don't make it.

Cut part of the bed mounts I made off so I can have them slotted for adjustment. Adding a bit more tube as well.

I would like to say I planned on removing the bed gap but I set my rear end to be centered at ride height and not when laid out. So I pushed the bed forward a bit to make up the difference. The black strip is primer that I need to rattle can white or something for the mean time. The bedside isnt mounted or anything since I need to tweak a few things first.

Re: Used Parts Build

Did you put rtv under that yoke nut? I'm not sure if it is necessary there as I don't have any 2wd stuff myself. I know I needed it on my transfer case output.

Thanks guys. It is a conversion yoke so it doesnt have the hole or anything. It doesnt leak much. I am wondering if I have it a bit too full. Ill keep an eye on it for now since I have more things to fix first.

I got the bed on and have been driving it a bit. Lots of little things to do. I need to run my airlines and valves next.

Re: Used Parts Build

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Been taking care of all the little things while I drive it around.
Added a second tab to the exhaust to keep it from pivoting. The bushing came apart since the exhaust was twisting on it.

The blinkers wouldnt cancel and it felt funky when I went to signal so I replaced the cam.

Been driving it a few times a week to try to find all the bugs and break the rear end in before I get it turned and try to turn it up.

Re: Used Parts Build

Took way to long to get this done. Finally finished welding, stripped, and painted my raised bed floor.

Had to cut off my shock mount and move it down a quarter inch since my initial measurements were off and it hit the bed floor.

Finally got to play around with CAD and used Send Cut Send to make some tabs and brackets I needed.

I bought line lock because Amazon told me too... and drew up the bracket in CAD.

Need to plumb and wire it

Re: Used Parts Build

Thanks Joe.

Got my truck back together so I could take it to a few meet ups. Did my first wash is like 8 years.

Now I need to figure out how to cover this all up.

Here is my idea. I plan on having the pivot on the forwardmost tube which means I have to pull the floor away from the cabside a bit before pivoting. I plan to run a wood floor and have maybe 3ish feet in the center that pivots. I saw this thread: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=819450 and started playing with cardboard. This is roughly what I ended up with. You can click on it for the video.

I drew it up in QCAD (free software) and sent it over to Send Cut Send. Hopefully it works...I'll be out of town for the next week so hopefully I return to cool parts!

I see big things happening with "Send cut Send". Didn't know they existed? Thanks for the info.

Re: Used Parts Build

I heard about Send Cut Send from another you tube account I follow. I see it as a great way for a lot of builders to step up their builds from the old methods of doing things with a cut off wheel and a drill.

From the pictures you shared, the parts looks great and come all deburred and looks like they used a surface belt sander on the face of the parts.

There is also a company called OSH Cut that does the same thing. I havent used them yet. I heard the prices are comparable. I love the cut/grind/drill but this stuff is so much cleaner and repeatable. It does get pricy though. The hinges came out to $120 to cut. Its all in stainless 1/4'' so it makes a bit more sense. The thought of cutting and drilling that much stainless makes the cost worth it though.

I hope to start learning the 3D program so I can really make cool stuff!

Re: Used Parts Build

A machine cut bracket is hands down better for repeatability vs. hand made. I go that route as much as I can when building things now.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Your work is probably significantly closer to machine cut than mine.

Drew up the brackets. Had them cut.

Here is a video of them in action. I think I would do them a bit different next time but they will work well enough (I hope).

Picked up this little fixture table off a company on Instagram (Dayton CNC). Was really cheap ($125) and seems to be high quality. Its small 6''x12'' but I figure Ill put it to good use some how.

Went to drive it tonight after being out of town and decided to look it all over first...

Universal coolant apparently doesnt work with dexcool. I didnt flush the engine before I hooked it all up. The rest of the system is new. I spend an hour or so flushing it with the hose. I ordered some radiator flush and will start again tomorrow. Ugh.
