Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
so you replaced the lower cowl (patches) thru that hole in the side?
If you gut the dash (instrument panel, glove box, heater, etc. you might weld it from under the dash. I had a cowl leak on my 67. Those rings are rusty were they are welded on. I used these little plastic things on mine and some windshield sealer. Did it all from under the dash.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
yeah i bought a set of those but when i took the air vent off so came that half of the cowl. So i cut that hole and fit enough in to cover. I was thinking i may be able to get it from the inside. Just gonna be hard to see and do that..

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
I feel your pain... We took a different approach to the same issue on the 67. If I were to do it again, I'd simply shave the cowl vents, and pull air from a different source.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
well, the cowl would be an easy repaint with hood and fenders off...

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
that is true...but id rather not..Plus cutting and welding on top is just iffy...Dont want to rove the windshield or burn stuff... But that is an option if this doesnt work out

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Well my brushable seam sealer didnt show up today so i couldnt work on the cowl. So I decided to cut out and start working on the frame rail...
It was interesting..I originally cut it fit into the rad support beam but it was too far gone and i had to cut the edge of it back. So i moved the inner section back and welded to the rad support. I left a little bit hang over and cut it off after and banged it agaisnt it a little tigther. Cut weld, cut weld, fit all sorts off stuff but the main focus was get the bolt for the bumper right. So i had a center line sharpy mark above everything to make sure i had it in the right spot. Eitherway, long day, ugly welds but its all in. Painted on the inside even and it was nice that it was in front of the angle support. Just need to make a bit of an end cap for it

I admire your motivation. That's a big job to tackle, but it looks like you have it under control.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Well bent the lip just a little but more and i was able to reach around the cowl and get it all gunked up. It is officially sealed on the drivers side. I ran a lot of water and no leaks. Even came out the drain hole properly lol
Once i get the passenger side done i can install interior!!!!!!!!

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
aint pretty but i welded it back together. Painted it, seam sealed it, and painted it again. I may have gone a bit nuts with seam sealer

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
!!! I spent my weekend pulling transmissions out of 3 different junkyard cars! I wish LKQ parts weren't so cheap sometimes... I pulled an entire T5 to get to an ~$8 clutch fork so I didn't have to buy a $65 one. It also worked out too. After I got my T5 home, the gears look GREAT in it, but the 1-2 shift fork was cracked. The car I pulled the clutch fork out on Saturday had a bad trans (all the gears looked like hell inside of it, otherwise I would have taken it home too!) so I took the shift forks from that. Girl couldn't find them in the computer so she gave me both for a $5 "bracket" price. I was back home in under 2 hours. It's easy to pull stuff when you don't care about the stuff around it!

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Chopped open the passenger side and it was about the same as the drivers side. The cowl hood wasnt even attached and i was able to use my hand to pull a ton out Managed to squeeze the angle grinder in and do a straight cut along the one side and bent the rest out. Have to remove a little more and order the pass side replacement panel

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Ive got the piece fitted but thats about it. Ive been working on the truck trying to get it a little better and ready for winter. Its my "Bad roads" driving vehicle. So I have been welding on it instead of the mustang. Plus this side is a little more difficult because im trying to line it up with the heater box.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
The passenger side is finally ready to weld in. I put a bolt in it to pull it down on the inside and will need to weld it all up. Its TOO freaking cold though, i went out and did 1 thing at a time for like 5 mins before going in for like 30.
Its suppose to be almost 50 tomorrow so i plan to try to weld it in then
