Re: Wild C10 project
Well guys, I just received some very damming and shocking news about the 01' donor truck that I have been building into this 67' c10 project. It had been stolen a while back from a guy that had been lied to. It's very odd that the individual that's saying it was stolen had let another individual take procession of it with the promise that it was being built as a SEMA project at no cost to him as a promotional vehical. That individual had taken it to the guy that has been doing my body work and pretty much just stole the truck and acted as it was his. Well he had some work done and pretty much abandoned the truck and never paid for any work done. Eventually instead of paying for the work the title of the truck was handed over, which he guy had came in pocession of from the original owner as part of his scam. Well fast forward past that confusing mess I agreed to do some trading with the guy that had the truck just left at his house. He had a legit title that was signed over which I registered the truck in my name with no problems. Well here it is SEMA time and the original owner is looking for his truck, which we have cut into a million pieces. You wanna talk about a sick feeling in your stomach when you get notified that a truck that you bought and have sunk tens of thousands of dollars in is stolen from a detective trying to figure out what has happened. Needless to say I'm going straight to the police department in the morning to find out what is going on. I'm just destrought right now and don't know what's going to happen. But let my lesson be one for all...buyer beware.

Re: Wild C10 project
Wow just read through this whole build, some pretty awesome work! Sorry to hear about the title issues, hope you get them straightened out.
It is odd that the owner is saying that it was supposed to be built as a SEMA truck and now he is coming looking for it after you have done all this work. I think there is more to this story. Good Luck.

Re: Wild C10 project
Paper trail re: title. Hate to sound not caring but this seems like the problem of the guy handing over the title. Sounds like he has some proof to claim.
Sounds like a cruddy position to be in no matter what. Sorry to hear that.

Re: Wild C10 project
Well the truck is stolen. Going to meet with the detective Monday and hope to hear a verdict on the truck. It's a weird situation since the truck is registered in my name and I have a clean title. The kicker is that truck is non-recoverable now, so there's a small chance I may be able to keep it.

Re: Wild C10 project
Very Happy to announce after all the mess that I will be able to keep the truck. Bruce really helped me out in making a deal with the guy it formally belonged to. Which he was understanding to the situation. Hope to have more progress pics soon.

Re: Wild C10 project
Good to hear. Maybe check titles of vehicles from now on? I know it's a little too late but I always do a title check at the DMV before buying that Great deal.
Still I am very happy you could work something out. I really wanna see this to the end-or beginning of it's new life as a legit. Maybe it needs a new name...
