Big step today, the temperature was decent today so I finished the prepping on the firewall and got it completely sprayed. It turned out really nice, almost flawless, tons of work is finally starting to pay off!

I also did some work at the metal shop in my school, I turned this piece of aluminum on the lathe and polished it up and it looks almost like Chrome! It's going to be part of the missing bracket that allows me to mount my unity spotlight to the window pillar

Morning Mate

Been keeping an eye on you.

Great progress as always.

Also with being back at work and writing up my USA Road Trip report the last few weeks, I just did not reply to many threads.

Thanks rian, I've been pushing really hard to get it painted before it gets too cold out. I read all about your trip to Clem's, looked like a hell of a good time you guys had out there!

Thanks tj, this gun wasn't working very well either probably because of how cheap it was, but I sanded the firewall super smooth and then made sure it was clean of all contaminants, then sprayed and it turned out great. Thats how painting is unfortunately, sometimes it turns out great and sometimes it turns out terrible and you can't figure out why, can be very frustrating

In my case extremely. haha Gun sprayed out primer wonderfully but when it came to paint it orange peeled like mad, had everything set to specs and paint mixed properly. Was a little cold and wet that day so that could have had a bad affect. Not sure. lol Gonna color sand and try again.

So I'm going to wait a while until the paint fully cures and try wet sanding it, I'm really hoping that it'll work and I don't have to redo it.
Luckily it ended up that the watermarks were only on the very top surface, they came out easily

Made some more progress on the rear end today, I rebuilt the rear brakes with new shoes, wheel cylinders and springs, since I used the 78 backing plates and brakes I ordered the wider 2 3/4" shoes, so now its upgraded a bit better than stock

That T5 will make awesome 6 banger burnouts! This was on wet pavement but it does it just as easy on dry

Today at school I used the metal lathe to make some pieces for my hydraulic clutch linkage. I turned down some roundstock and used my tap and die set to thread them. The threaded hole on this piece attaches to the clutch master cylinder and the threaded stick-out part threads into the rod end. The lock nut is to make adjustments and tighten it so it won't come out of adjustment

And the top piece here is threaded all the way through and attaches to the pedal and pivots on the rod end
