Re: My version of the s10 swap
Going on HRPT in the truck you just finished (ok, they are never really finished) has to be a very exciting time. Looks like you all are having fun!

Re: My version of the s10 swap
Thanks guys, wouldn't think of doing the trip without my helpers! It's a blast, and we've had some really good conversations.
Helped out the Laid-Back guys with my funnel and hand cleaner at a gas stop. Earned the stickers they gave us a couple days ago!

Re: My version of the s10 swap
Thanks all! We did have a fantastic time. Total miles were right around 3000 for the week, truck ran great and averaged about 22mpg with no issues. Oil is still clean and right at the top of the marks (which is better than my DOD 5.3 in the suburban that uses oil like a MOFO when it drops cylinders). Kiddos had a great time, and when asked the best part of the trip was the hotel pools. Definitely a good event and a great adventure!
Kansas speedway, the end of the "official" tour and only 3 hours from home. I did underestimate the work involved in keeping whitewalls white: 9 days of early mornings and late nights:

Re: My version of the s10 swap
Great post. I wish I had come down to the Speedway Friday evening to see all the cars. I did go to the Roadkill Nights the following evening around 6:00 but was a bit disappointed with the turnout.
I hope to do the Power Tour some year once my truck is on the road. Hopefully they'll have one in the near future that ends somewhere in the Midwest. This years would have been perfect for me with the last stop being in KC. |

Re: My version of the s10 swap
I thought I was going, too. Registered and all, but didn't finish in time. The daily updates and route information I received on my phone was just punishing! Hopefully I'll make it next year. Looks like you made some pretty cool memories on the way, and it looks like all the swimming and the long drive wore those boys out!

Yes they will! Quote:
BTW, the pattern they've established is that they start the next Power Tour where the last one left off, or so I've been told. That bodes well for you next year starting in KC! Quote:

Re: My version of the s10 swap
Thanks! I'll have more pics next time I head up to my parents house, my mom took quite a few with her big camera.
That is at a point in the week where I didn't care anymore how dirty the whitewalls were, it was too hot to do anything about it! I still haven't figured out how best to clean them up, Simple Green and kitchen scotchbrite pads aren't cutting it. That guy behind me from Wisconsin was an interesting fellow. He'd done every Power Tour long haul in that truck, minus one he said.

I'm kinda diggin that shade of whitewall on your truck. It matches the wheels...you could be setting some new trend and not know it. Lol

Re: My version of the s10 swap
Ha! Road grime and brake dust, nice! I actually called my grandpa tonight to ask him why he didn't tell me whitewalls were so hard to keep clean, and that's basically what he told me. He said when he had his they didn't have many paved roads and he never washed them!
