Re: Greg65 build thread

Got the filter mounted to the frame last night. I'm still waiting on my hose and fittings that I was expecting to arrive Friday but will now be here next Wednesday. Amazon has better prices but the delivery needs some work.

Re: Greg65 build thread

It has been a while since I have posted any progress on the truck. I. Did manage to get the rest of the fuel lines made and installed. I used Russell fittings and line and really like how they turned out.

Re: Greg65 build thread

I also relocated the trans cooler from the crossmember to the frame right under the radiator. Now I can take advantage of the radiator's internal cooler as well as the external cooler. Decided to go with Summit's fittings. Really felt good working on the old truck again.

Looking good! I too have used both the Russell fitting as well as Summit's brand. Both have come together equally well, though I haven't actually used fluid through either setups yet.

Looks like we are in the same boat. The truck has been put on the back burner for a while and really looking forward to getting it back on the road.

Glad to see you back on it. I like where you mounted the trans cooler to make it cleaner to use the one in the radiator too.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Look what big brown dropped off today. Big thanks to Matt at MCB's for the great price on my wiring kit. Since the front wiring will be run under the inner fenders I need to mount the fuse panel and drill the hole on the firewall. Hopefully I can get that done this weekend.

Re: Greg65 build thread

I started working on my cowl side panels this weekend. The passenger side had a couple pin holes right behind the antenna opening. After bead blasting and welding the area, I cleaned both pieces and applied POR 15 to both. Here are a couple before and after pictures. Now for a little filler and sanding.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Glad to see you still plugging away, Greg! I know what you mean about aftermarket stuff. I recently installed some new taillights on my '97 Tahoe, & it took forever to get them to fit how I wanted. Like yours, I had to resort to modifications.

On a completely different note, how about that Tide? What a game it was! Great way to cap off your birthday as well. Can't wait to see what next season has in store!

That was a wild game. The way the first half was going I sure didn't want to come into work the next day with all the Bulldog fans I work with.

Did you lengthen the harness to be able to reach the back of the cab? I kinda like the idea of mounting the PCM back there.

I haven't yet but it will have to be done. Also the pcm is mounted by the radiator on the donor vehicle so the harness has to be flipped if you plan on mounting the pcm in the cab. Some of the connectors will have to be either shortened or lengthened. In this case it might be more cost effective to have a new custom harness made. Still checking on going this route.

I will be contacting you about brake and hydraboost brackets soon. Thank you for checking in.

Re: Greg65 build thread

I guess while I got my frame stripped may as well notch then, I'm running a BB 454, wonder if the weight is too nose heavy for lowering springs on front, maybe just springs but no spindle drop, what tire and wheel combo you running ? I like how it sits !

I would go with the spindles and a one inch lowered spring. The spindle helps correct the suspension geometry that is affected by being lowered. The wheels are Centerline Tel Star 15X7 with 235/70R15 front and 15x8 with 275/60R15 rear. The wheels have been on the truck for over twenty years. Wow time really flies by.
