What is the trim color of your truck? Baltimore didn't generally list the code on the SPID. If it is a blue or olive trim I'd love to see a picture or two.

The stock, base tires/wheels on a 71 C20 were tubeless 8.75-16.5C(6PR) nylon tires on 16.5x6.0" white steel wheels with painted hub caps. Much like the picture here. However it is very likely that your truck had larger tires at some point as most campers did. Most often it was the rear only that would have larger 10-16.5 or 12-16.5 tires. At the time these were a semi-low profile tire and not like the high aspect ratio of today's "off road" tires. The White 71 Cheyenne Super is a reasonable example.

If you want a steel spoke wheel like the classic Jackman Duplex they work, but present a very dated (cheap?) look to many people. In the typical White with pinstripes they will look the period part. My favorite of this style were the 6 spoke.

That said my personal favorite are slots. In fact there is a thread you need to check out too.

If I ever find an affordable 4000lb+ rated, forged billet 16" period style slot I'll be happy.

Biggest problem is 16.5 wheels need 16.5 tires. They are expensive and limited availability. But they are out there including 12-16.5 camper tires.

If you are driving it 16" or 17" make more sense. There are a number of threads detailing the use of easy to find Ford 16" steel wheels allowing the use of available radials and stock Chevy hubcaps. Forgive me for not providing one of my everpresent links!

As Tim mentioned, a lot of us ran 12-16.5s in the rear for camper duty. Here is mine with 8.75-16.5 in the front and 12-6.5 in the rear.

Here's a loaded 1970 CST/20 big block on the Phoenix Craigslist I've been admiring. It even has an early nav system mounted on the dash above the radio. Too bad it's not a 1 ton Longhorn Tim Looks really original.

Nice truck! While not my first choice of series or color it would be nice to have. Though the fact it appears to be a flat towed vehicle does bother me. After all to the best of my knowledge TH400 were never approved for it.

I saw the brackets also and thought the same thing. I wonder if they were for some other purpose. They do look like Roadmaster brackets though. It does have leaf springs.

Snow plow brackets perhaps?

In any case - Tim is right: you can't tow a TH400 in neutral since the pump is not turning. You'll burn it up if you go very far or very fast.

Most folks use "towing hubs" on the rear, or remove the shaft and plug the trans.

Here is one you don't see often. A fairly basic Cheyenne Super SWB. Pretty much all the buyer added (special ordered) was an automatic, wheel covers, radio and Deluxe Two-Tone paint on his new 307 V-8 Super. There is a build sheet fully supporting this SPID as well, from Baltimore no less. One should also note it was not built with power steering or brakes much less a rear bumper.

Just got my new SPID from member Chip Flyer. What a great job and a great guy to deal with. It is going on this old 67 glove box as soon as I can clean off the old label.

Here you go Tim. Thats the best I have. Took the acetone to it just minutes ago. Would have been a sweet truck in Seafoam Green with Fawn interior.

I like the slots as well. I bought a set of 16" 8 lugs and had them restored. Very rare and expensive until someone starts making them again. I have ran the white wagon wheels as well and they look great as well.
