Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
A friend of mine found this 1957 3/4 ton week before last in a barn and was able to buy it CHEAP! It has 14,000 original miles, still had the last oil change sticker on the windshield. Someone had painted it with a brush, the thick paint kept the body in tip-top shape!!!

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Good name for it, I'm getting sick of hearing patina all the time. White was a common color in south west states, especially with trucks without air, because it reflects heat better. Notice how paint wears at different rates, especially at transition from top of fender to behind grill panel. It appears the front end clip was not painted in one shot, rather pieced together at different times or days with lighter and heavier coverage.

Haaa I'm still learning the iPhone life. Just bought this 62 c10 today. First thing I did was taking off the utility box. Much better but I guess it is not the most original cause wheels

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Sweet! Did you see anything about the one going across the block at Mecum auction? I saw a guy mention it on Facebook. I think it was a '60-63 with 34k original miles.

Looks like the rear axle has been changed to a 5 lug setup and the fronts are still 6 lug.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Does anyone know what the seller paid for this truck at the Lambrecht auction? I have yet to see any of these "time capsule" vehicles bring anywhere near the money that was paid for them at the auction. Have any of you?

BTW, I have those same tie downs that show on the side of the bed. Are they an aftermarket or factory add on? |

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Awesome! Great old shot too! Also welcome to the board. Your dad's truck is a factory Custom Camper badged model as shown in the pics. How did it survive over the years? One-family trucks have a better chance of staying intact than most, but they were just trucks back then, so that's no guarantee. Any current pics?

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Thankyou for posting, even better on the nostalgia photos thread we have, yes, we purists appreciate it very much. If it still looks this way today, it deserves to be on this thread my all means. Correct wheels and correct hubcaps on 3/4 tons ( IMO, the ultimate look ) are not an everyday site anymore, I will toot my own horn from comment on page 14 post #336

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
1963 C30 all original except trailer hitch was on when purchased in 1975. I replaced the bed with deck plate. I rebuilt 292 engine in the late 70's and repainted the truck in the early 80's. I repainted the interior with rattle can...
wrong color! Truck has several hundred thousand miles and still going strong. It has worked hard hauling firewood and other things. "Big Green" is considered a member of the family!! |

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Found this one in a farmers barn down the road. Was put in storage in 1978 and only has 86,000 original miles. Started right up after I cleaned out the fuel tank. It will be my next project.
