Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
If I keep it I plan on bagging it keeping the original 305 and beefing it up gettin a shift kit in the 700r4 got my eye out for a step side bed Harley side mirrors and one peice glass kit all the way around keeping the wheels hugger orange i just got done with a week ago but I'm gettin spider caps and trim rings looking at a 2nd row seat from a 99 suburban to replace the bench , of course I'm gonna get the body straight and repaint it the original color with added pearl with satin clear coat I wanna change the interior from brown to light tan with a nice stereo nothing over the top I want it to be clean but still somethin not too nice to drive back and forth to work and dropping the kids off at daycare Posted via Mobile Device

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
wow, there are some nice rigs posted here already picked up a few pointers(thankz) im building an 84 canadian stepside slowly but slowly it has american racing outlaws 15x10s on the rear what sucks is that someone used spacers/adapters to put the wheels on 4 3/4 to 5x5 it makes it a little 2 wide for the stepside of course the wheels wont fit without the adapters {drat!} the fronts are outlaws too but they are all jacked up glad i measured the bolt pattern in the front is 4.5 looks like im gonna go new rims and tires {ouch} -Jeff

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
The tank is in the new products section in the latest LMC trucks catalog it says its for a 67 but its the right size its a good deal if you compare some prices comes with the sending unit/the flush mount gas cap that goes in the bed is extra the anti squeek they sell ya and say you should put in between things is just regular tar paper if you try and bolt it right to the frame the tank sits too high.
{and at an angle} the beds gonna hit it so i made a couple of brackets to get it sitting at the right height/level. the frame is at a slant there so brackets have to equalize that. i bent the steel for the brackets i used a big ass vice and the torch to bend the brackets sort of like an elongated u taller in the front than the rear so the tank sits right i drilled holes and bolted the brackets to the tank and jacked the tank up till the brackets were where i wanted i had to remove the spare tire holder and take into consideration where the bed brace bolts the bed to the frame came across so it dont hit the sending unit then tacked it on the bottom of the frame then took the tank back down and finished welding the brackets to the frame plus the bolts they give you for the tank straps aren't long enough by an inch or so so i got some threaded rod and used a couple pieces of that plus some nylock nuts to make bolts long enough |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
my junk.
1985 custom deluxe, 305, 4 speed, 4.5/5 drop (flip kit, drop spindles, coils, upper control arms, shocks) has some dings and is my new daily driver, but I love it. future plans are to drop it more and drive the hell out it. Last edited by Looneybin; 07-14-2013 at 04:02 PM. |

Jpnh- Yeah one of the good things about So Cal is the nice weather, most of the time. It has some dings and such but I'm going to try to learn as much as I can about the engine and other general stuff. I plan on using it to pick up Home Depot stuff, furniture, etc. so I want it to be as reliable as possible. Then I'm going to get the paint job up to snuff! I wish my dad had some pics of it when it was new. I would love to see how it looked with the pin-striping. |

Badass truck. I should have got that style wheels for my 86. I think I am going to get the Billet Specialties bonneville G's for my patina'd '68 I just picked up.
Here is my '86 currently.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Wow, that is almost exactly how my truck it going to end up. Wheels and all. Just started the savings fund for the wheels. I think I want the silver just a tad darker though. But that is a drop dead gorgeous truck.

Hi all... first post for me. I've been browsing this forum for the past couple of years and have learned a lot.
1978 GMC C15 350/350TH 3 inch DJM drop spindles and one coil removed 5 inch Western Chassis Flip kit and 2 inch drop shackles (no notch yet) Did a LWB to SWB conversion. This is currently how it sits. |

Good start on the 78 C10. Like the short box conversion.
