Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)

Ok so i wanted a "CLEAR" windshield with no upper tint on it , i searched everywhere i found one for $500...and kept searching, finally found one for $169 at Classic Parts in KC my grandfather made the 8 hour round trip to get the front and back glasses. Next dilema was the gaskets i had brand new gaskets but they werent Precision and everyone said use Precision so i called them and was placing my order and got to talking to them on the phone and the sponsored the front and back windshield rubbers (thank you Precision) My factory stainless trim was very nice just needed polished something terrible Jason Matthews repolished them for me , they look beautiful, there are a couple tiny dings left in them ....but they are the original ones ! So next task, me and my grandfather install the back glass, took 2 trys but not to bad ! That brings us to the windshield, with all the horror stories you hear i was scared to death ! In talking to Derrick at Precision he says to check out their installation video on Youtube...so i watched it , still couldnt make up my mind if i was brave enough to try it or not so i call the local glass company, they wont install it because i didnt buy it from them so i call they other local one they will for $150.....WOW, so last night i watch the install video again and follow it step by step exactly ...took me and my wife 45 mins start to finish went in perfectly !! THANK YOU PRECISION !

Hey Mike,

I've been in Europe few a couple of weeks and just got back, wanted to catch up with this thread.

The truck is looking sooo sharp! Glad to be part of this build. Looks like the installs went well and glad the video helped.

My R & D guy in the video & myself will be at Sema shooting video, taking pictures etc for our blog and youtube channel. I would like to do a short interview with you talking about the concept and build of this truck. Would that be ok?

Derek

Looking good! What color is the Tubz logo? I think an 'etched glass look' decal would look good- standout, but still be able to see through and not look so much like a sticker...

i was just about to say the same thing , he could allso have it etched in for real , but then again if you ever decide to update the logo youre stuck with the one on the window if it would be etched

for rearvisibility you could have it made about a thirth of the size and put it in the uppercorner of the window

it is a reflective silver , it will look similar to the etch but give a little sparkle when the light hits it !

Logo looks great. I really like the clear glass without the tint, looks really clean IMO. You're going to have a sick truck when its all said and done with!

Nice job on the window install, btw. My wife helped with mine, too. It's a little scary if you've never done one, but the sense of satisfaction is enormous when complete

Looks great! Nice work on the install of the glass. It was easier than I thought too, but I had bmerdoc's help and he had just done his.....honestly with fresh, glosst paint it would have slipped into place easier with the foaming window cleaner....with my pating/rough frame it took a bit but in the end it looks great!

Windows look great. I watched the vid too very nice how to from precision. I really like the front glass without the tint strip it looks very clean in a truck with show quality interior. Might need some tint in my rag-a-muffin truck
