Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)

old school tricks...adjust doors at front out as much as possible and still be lined with rocker and windshield post ...window down..look at the "push" on door rubbers when u close the door ...U will usually see places tighter than others...especially above and below latch....pull off seal in that area and "softly rubber hammer" the pinch weld inward...doesn't take much to make a difference...this is where the push on rubbers are a savior....They are still going to be tight but should be able to get "closure"...some will tell U to move striker plate but that works only until door missaligns with cab...have fun buddy...wait till I show U the ring brothers handles and what i had to do to get the unlatch and unlock mechanics to work!!......jim

I put 3M anti-chaf tape on the hinges where paint is against paint to keep it front rubbing or scratching , you can see it in a couple of the pics where the door is on the stand

Incredible work Mike! It's going to be a shame to put the bed on now and hide all that work!

Your truck is looking very nice! I just had the same dilemma with door seals and had to readjust my doors too since I had no seal on my cab since February. And holly sponsors bat man! Great job on lining all those up! That's incredible!

Looks fantastic! Also to add on the door seals...did you leave a slight gap at the miter where they meet? Supposed to allow air out....see if they are easier to shut with the windows open first....might be how tight they are.....

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)

That would be awesome if the cab was so air tight the air pressure wont allow your doors to shut, that one I would have to see for myself. Although with the level of craftmanship that has gone into this truck it wouldnt surprise me.
But wait I got jokes!
It would be kinda freaky if you were driving down the road and all the sudden you got light headed, blurry vision and impared judgement from carbon dioxide build up from lack of a fresh air supply, you might need to build a c02 scrubber.

good one! Not air tight, but the amount of air displaced by the door can make them hard to close....check out the gmc pauls door seals are great thread...

I think it has more to do with the huge area of the door coming in contact with that large rubber seal and when it all squeezes in the door jamb, it makes it harder to shut. If you adjust the door out it usually helps shutting them. Trimming the weather striiping will allow an air gap, and it can move if you will when compressed. This is just my take on it.

Man the dash and head lights are sweet. I bet those puppies are super bright at night!!!!!!!

The easiest method to install them is using a rubber mallet to tap on the seal to install it, using the rubber mallet gets them to conform best to the mitered upper corner and fully seats it on the door cab seal lip. lip. and doing it under the center of the door sill plates hides the cuts ) and it also allows any water that gets into the cab to drain You should also cut a angle notch on either end where they meet under the door sill plates so that the cuts form a inverted /\ shape this allow air to expell from the rubber bulb seal as the door closes ( this allows the doors to close much easier than if you butt the 2 ends tightly together and doing it under the center of the door sill plates hides the cuts ) and it also allows any water that gets into the cab to drain out.
For those that order our complete cab rubber kits we offer the option in the cart to upgrade from the glue on door seals to our push on version.
In years past we intially tried using the late model truck door seals such as 88-98 or 82-93 S10 but we found the bulb seal was almost 3/16" thicker than the stock seals which mean't door adjustment & latch adjustment to get them to close well using those styles, about 3 years ago though we got with our manufacturer and came up with a similar seal as the 88-98 trucks and 82-93 S10 seals that is only apprtox. 1/32"-1/16" thicker than the stock glue on seals and since then you no longer have a problem using alot of effort to close the door fully and it eliminated the need to adjust the doors to reduce the effort involved in closing the doors.
Paul @ GMCPauls
just trying to save cheby and anyone else time if it can be a simple fix vs removing the seals, adjusting the door gaps or edges, and reinstalling....it can potentially be a 30 second fix....there are others on the thread that it's worked for...

think there are some higher class cars (mercedes?) that used vacuum to help close the doors

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)

the wiring has taken alot of time, and this with using the best stuff ! It just gets really complicated when you need the Painless 18 circuit haness to talk to thePainless EFI harness to theDakota Digital dash harness to the DD Compass temp upgrade harness to the DD Gear position harness to the Spal fan harness to the Delta Hid harness to the Vintage air harness.....well you get the picture ! LOL ...#!^#%!@^%@%, if my friend John would have been there from day one...it would have taken alot less time !
