Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Started gutting one set of the doors tonight. Looks like the driver's door off the 66 will be patched on the bottom corner and kept. Will get to the 65 doors and find out which passenger door will be used.
It is such a luxury to have multiples now! I can stand back, pick the simplest route and come out with a better end result. I have to say thanks to everyone on the board who has encouraged us and offered advice. It really helps. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Installed some H4 bulb headlights and rewired them with relays. What a difference! probably the best upgrade I've made other than power steering.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
My son and I finished disassembling two more doors and marked out the good parts we are cutting out to use on the other doors.
Next up: we are cutting out the useful parts of the 66 cab, removing the pedal assembly and hauling it to the recycling center. That's on Saturday's agenda. We decided the SWB frame is just too nice to scrap. We will hold onto it until we find a buyer. Way too many people Z a LWB frame when they could buy a SWB one. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
TxRat - I like your truck.
Painted the front rotors and drop coils gloss black Rusto’ before work. Cleaned and painted the Upper Ball Joints at work. I used some silver hammer finish Rusto’ that was in the futility-room at work & I like them just fine. Mounted my upper ball-joints and bump-stops in the Upper Control Arms when I got home, flipped the coils over and shot them again. If I was a younger man I’d try and bolt it all together but given the temps and humidity – it’ll wait till we get back from Georgia – the paint might be hard enough to touch by then. Leaving for Georgia Friday morning – hope to find some righteous parts at some point along the way. I hope to be rolling again soon after we get back... |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Started my LT1 yesterday. Had a slight bog. Had a bad TPS. Replaced and running great now. Laid rubber up the drive way . Here's a video of my first run.

I think I fixed it. Had the video as private and didn't know.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Bought my antenna! Have not installed it yet because I want to touch up the paint on the under side of my hood first, then get it installed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Argh! Evidently, neither my son nor I felt it necessary to pick up the headlight bezels when we were sorting parts. I stepped on one and folded it nearly in half and dented it!
It was a near mint set of painted ones. No clue where I will find just one to replace it without spending a fair bit on it. Steven

Today I backed into my driveway when I got home from work, pulled the parking brake... and SNAP went the brake cable!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got another coat of rattle can paint on the lower control arms for my baby, hope it holds up and looks nice for a little while at least. I will put another coat of clear coat on it once installed to hide any marks I put on it during installation. Plan on putting the front cross member in this week end

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I spoke with a fellow member who lives about an hour from me and he has a bunch of parts I need. And I put in an order for a bunch of little stuff from classic parts. Nice way to burn thru $400. At least my truck will be ready to roll when the snow melts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Picked up my set of plates for the truck, wish I could of gotten the antique plates, but already had a ticket, no sense in waiting to get another.
Bought some wiper arms and blades, figured I better get them on before I need them. Also bought a cheap shifter knob. Figured I've learned stick enough to get me a little something. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Scrapped the bad cab and some odds and ends. I couldn't help but feel a little sad when the crane grabbed it off the trailer and crushed it.
I just couldn't save it. Steven
