Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got my vintage license plate project kicked off. Had one set for a passenger car and got a couple more sets cheap off ebay. Gonna paint them all and if they turn out good will sell two sets and use one for myself.

Dude! I can just picture those plates looking like that last picture, right after a bunch of cats in striped jumpsuits took them out of the press at the Huntsville unit 43 years ago!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

only had the truck for a few weeks now. yesterday i put new visors in (LMC). repainted the glove box door, rear view mirror arm, visor brackets, and the edlebrock air cleaner cover. after the paint dried on the cover i belt sanded the tops of the ribs back to the bare aluminum. than checked the timing and found it 12 deg BTDC which is WAY to far. it should probably be from 4 to 6 maybe 8 at most. then realized the vacuum advance was loose on my MSD cap so first thing this morning i pulled the cap off and tightened it up. then tonight i ordered a 4/6 drop and disc brake conversion kit. i got too excited and paid an extra $93 dollars to get in 2 days. ill be doing this project this weekend hopefully.

Lowered the front and added disc brakes. Not finished but had to set the front on the ground to see.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

today i had to try and undo the mistakes of the prior owner. the truck is dark blue, originally light blue. the previous owner decided to try and fix some serfice rust by spraying a metalic blue rattle can pain over it that was far from either the original color or the current color. with some steel wool and minineral spirits i was able to get rid of a lot of it. not it just looks like it has patina.

Thumbs up Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Looked out the window @ 0-Dark:30 and saw it was raining so I drove it to work , nice and sedately in the slow lane @ 65 MPH as the 'tards wizzed & slid by in their hoopty escalades and exploders all crossed up on bald 22" tires going faster in the rain than they do when it's dry....

Seriously , there's no fixing stupid .

Put oil in the T-case, Tranny, front and rear diffs. They leak a bit!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

It's nice out today, so I put it to work, and hauled a load to the compost pile. Got the yard cleaned up, and got to drive the truck. Then me and 2 of my boys sat on the tailgate with the radio on, and had a few cold sodas out of glass bottles, and my 3 year old said " Dad, I love your old truck". That made my day.

Post Re : Tailgate Fun

That's the right attitude ! no wonder i see so many great trucks on this site .

Besides , once you give up on it or find a better one , you can hang it on the wall or the side of the garage with some chains holding it horizontal ~ they make GREAT folding seats for visitors....

My truck? it's working as usual , raining lightly in L.A. again this morning .

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove it about 150 miles running errands and dropping off old Metropolitan Nash fuel tanks ~ everywhere I went , guys told me how much they liked it .

I went to one of my favorite Pick-A-Part yards for a hot minute and found a 100 % rust & dent free 1970 C/20 cab , of course some damn fool cut the rockers out instead of grabbing the whole cab for only $150.00 Grrrrrrrrrt.
