Re: What did you do to your truck today?

took a buddy out for a birthday ride... On the way back decided to have some fun and dog it out just a bit... Until I went over a canal bridge at 40 mph... Not smart. Nocked out a good size piece of the dougnut between the manifold and the exhaust pipe, not to mention the original 50 year old exhaust came loose and is swaying back and forth... Guess I know what I'll be doing next!!! ohh and welcome Idaho!!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Swapped jets and metering rods (richer) in the carb today which didn’t resolve the running out of gas problem at full throttle in 3rd gear. I disconnected the mechanical fuel pressure isolator from the pressure regulator to see if that has any effect. Took it out for a run tonight and it's performing perfectly. Not sure how an isolator can cause so much trouble, but I guess that will be next thing I get to figure out.

The interesting thing about your on going story on your truck is that you don't just disconnect the culprit of any problem you are having and go on...
you figure out what is going wrong and make it right... Nice

jayoldschool, it looks like you have 64-65 caps.

From what I have learned on here, the 66 caps are the same shape as the 64-65, but the 66 has a raised rib to stiffen the cap so it does not get bent as easily as the 4-5 when it is installed.

Wasn't it a great feeling to be using your truck to get the lumber, bet you spend more time talkign about teh ride vs. picking out the lumber.

Didn't happen today, but Monday, I picked up a new carb, Tuesday a step bumper, Wednesday got the new windshield installed along with the new carb, Thursday new points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires and plugs, Friday got it registered for the first time since I've had it.

I love actually using the truck whether it's dump runs, going to a buddy's house to pick starfruit or avacados, or home depot runs. Its just fun to drive, and yea I had about a hour conversation between two different people on the way in and out of getting the lumber haha. And thanks guys my wife will be happy to hear about the photo!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took off the passenger side rocker panel. Gonna order the parts this week: lower door post, rocker panel and rocker backer.

Thank god for spot weld cutters!
