It's not as bad as most lol. I am dreading tomorrow trying to put stuff together haha. Idk what came in your kit but mine only came with EFI and wire installation and a brief initial handheld setup. Besides that I have hit buttons to figure it out.

The kit is very basic in the right ways im thinking that's why we like it.

I think they need someone that knows nothing about the product to redo the manual..
Many times in my own day I forgets that what I think of as common knowledge is not... for me its a daily thing to work on motorcycles@snowmobiles.....Whats so hard about it ?????

Upgrading my ignition module coil and cap this weekend plus new plug wires. Got one of those EFI friendly modules did not need just got it. Also I put a vacuum advance lockout on.

What did you get? I am considering that as well. Does the fitech simulate vacuum advance? Saw the msd atomic did that.

Just a cap a rotor a coil a module and a vacuum lock out. That's it. It is just a HEI upgrade kit but with the EFI friendly module. I don't run vacuum advance remember. I just put the lock out on it so I could remove that crap looking canister on the dizzy clean it up a little.

I think I have made my mind up I am going with a 700R4 instead of a 4L60E.
Price for the tranny build is going to cost the same for tranny. It is just the extra **** that the 4l60E needs that has me leaning towards the 700. Need a tranny controller another $500-$1000 plus if I keep my mechanical tach need a new tail housing another $500. So I am still weighing my options. Either way I will have it over built so it future proofs me.

I cant seem to edit one of my posts on the throttle body size.
Fitech told me it was the same as an 850 body.. But as I set here with some calipers it has the same bore as my 1050 that's with out the discharge nozzles in the middle.....I know most OEM FI are far bigger than there vapor valve counterparts...I have not looked into why this is but believe me it works just fine.....I have an idea why but I cant type that much and make it understandable

Got the new EFI friendly module installed cap and coil rotor put on. And truck starts a hell of a lot better. Now the stuff I replaced is not even a year old so I am contributing the better start cause of the module. Haha. It is a hotter module than what came in this dizzy. So I will think that and make me feel better about spending the money.
The module comes with the extra tach signal for EFI and has a extra ground. It said ground it to the block **** good luck with that. So I grounded it to one of the studs that holds the FiTech in place ie carb mounting studs. Actually has a great ground in that location cause the FiTech grounds that way also.

I did notice that my rpms are different than before. They are about 200 rpms higher now. So I take that as the FiTech is seeing a true clean rpm signal from the module. What I did wouldn't raise the rpms but it getting a clean rpm signal would make a difference in what the rpm would show. I read on some other forum don't remember which one may have been Fast or MSD but others who changed over to a module like this have seen the same. It provides a 12 volt square wave signal fancy talk just saying it has a clean signal.

No I got the Crane Cam aka Fast module. Fast just bout the ignition side of crane cams.

Now his a little advice. If you can find the Crane Cam HEI module it will save you $20-$30. Cause fast just took over crane cams and just rebranded that module and raised the price.

Doesn't look too much different than the 83647, it also provides a clean tach signal. When I rebuilt my motor, I got the Chevrolet Performance HEI which has that MSD module in it.

Do you already have a 700r4 in your truck? When I was looking around, I spoke with several places and with my power level (500+HP, 600+ Torque), they told me I'd be better off with a 4L80E and the 700R4/4L60E would likely require rebuilds more often even if you put a lot of stronger parts in it.

Yep that's the heat module I don't really care for MSD. That's why I did not buy it. No don't have the 700 yet. But for $4k billet front and rear and all the goodies I am not that worried about it. Plus a 4L80 weighs more and have to do more mods "driveshaft" to get it to fit. I been over on the LS racing forums and have it narrowed down to two companies that build rock solid race ****. And a old saying racing breaks parts. Sometimes you break **** sometimes you don't. That's just part of it. What I see is dumbasses do not know how to adjust the TV cable correctly and they burn the bands up.

I believe TCI has a constant pressure valve body to help with the TV cable issues as well.

Tomorrow I will be finishing making my plug wires and if my weathertite crimping die shows up at a decent time I will tackle the new fuel hat harness and fuel pump. It's funny how tools start disappearing when my almost 5 yr old has decided he like working on the truck hahaha. That makes me happy as a dad!! He can use a heat gun like a pro haha beside burning me he did a great job!

Very informative article about how you went about your truck efi upgrade....I'm about to order the Fitech from Jegs.......could give the part number for the Crane Cam HEI module so I could track one of those down......the next time I come to a cruise in in Knoxville I will be looking for your truck sir....

Cool deal. I really like the FiTech I can't really find anything major to ***** about it lol. The main thing I like is it just works. Simple install. And customer service is on point. If I have a technical question they actually know the answer and don't give me the run around.

And all those harness clips I posted about none of those fit the harness plugs. Not happy about that. So still on the hunt for the correct clips.
