Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

How does the group buy work? I need one and a friend of mine is wanting one as well. I've got a few questions for the specs on the tank when it comes time to order, like tank fill locations, etc.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Can't fit a longer or wider tank in without removing a crossmemer, which braces the frame at your spring perches. You could fit a deeper or taller tank, but that would be a custom order anyways. There is a few inches to go up to the bed floor brace, but they would have to move the rollover vent, it sits right under a floor brace. If you got measurements, they could probably build you one that would fill in between between floor braces, but it would have to be custom. Good luck. Mine is a long bed, leaf spring C20 by the way.

Dave, what was the improvement in the gasket seal for the tank? No problems with mine, great tank and nice improvements to an already nice tank. Jim

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

It has been a while since i have posted. We have been very busy in the shop lately.

We have finally finished the A-1000 version of our 67-72 Tank lineup for you big HP guys. This pump will support 1200+ HP. It is now live on the website.http://www.boydwelding.com/shop/inde...-bed-fill.html

there were a few changes to the structure to make this pump work.

1) We had to add a flat spot in the bottom of the tank so the pump could be mounted correctly
2) We increased the baffling around the pump.
3) we Revised our baffling in all of the tanks to help contain the fuel better

Everything else is the same as all of the other tanks.

Thanks to the Years of support everyone here has given us, We greatly appreciate it.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dave,

I have one question for you, I bought one of your tanks a while ago, I raised my bed floor and would like to have the tank fill at bed level. is there something that I can use that would just fit on the tank and I could put my cap on without cutting or modding the tank any? like a fill extension?

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Have had my tank for about 6 months just before the redesign. I just got the chance to finally start my build and install the tank. Great product. Fit like a glove!! top notch.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Got my tank, awesome quality! But there's and extra hole on top that I'm not sure what it's for? Is it for a return line?

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

That can be used as a return port or a vent. If you got the tank with a rollover vent, that is where it would go. You can always add the rollover vent there later if you decide. In the meantime you can plug it if you don't want to run a vent or return. It is a NPT thread.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

My tank has a roll over vent installed, a sending unit, the fill pipe, and then a plugged hole on top and a plugged hole on the bottom for the fuel out. ....?
Thanks

That extra port is for a return line if you want to use it. If not, then you can plug it.

Dave, is there still the 10percent discount for list members or a group buy in the near future?

I tried the 10percent for member discount a few weekd ago, it did not work. The tank is worth every bit of the price though.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Thanks Jondancer for that. I had originally bought the metal tank replacement for the blazer, but after seeing so many resonses for the Boyd tank. This probrably will be the way I go also. Maybe I can sell off the blazer set up and recoup some of the purchase price.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Anyone have pics of the center bed fill floor with a wood bed installed? Curious as to where the fill spout ends up. Center of bed floor n if it required any additional extension or not. Thanks...

I dont currently have any pictures of your request but the fill pipe should fall in the middle of a wood plank and should not require any extension.

You will need a flush access door placed in your bed floor, you would open that door and reach in and remove the cap to direct fill the tank.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Planning on ordering in about 4 weeks. Any advantage to calling over ordering on line? 67-72 rear center bed fill tank, rollover valve, sender, non EFI, maybe even powder coated if the cost is friendly enough. Thanks

Have you considered making some hinged flush mounted doors with a piano hinge powder coated n raw finish to add to your setup? I would be interested in testing the fit for you..
