Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I hooked up my gauges. The only one that is giving me trouble is the Gas gauge.. I would think that would be really important with a Big Block.. Still want to change the interior color and yes the steering wheel will be going bye bye.

Looks Great!
I think from 1965 to the late 90’s, GM decided to change the Ohm reading coming out of the fuel sender from 0 – 30 to 0 – 90 (0 empty – 90 full). Do you have the correct gauge for your sender? |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Finally had a Saturday off, and while waiting for the Belmont, I got a burr to modify my spare deluxe steering wheel. I used an older (1961-2) Pontiac wheel that I had cut up to make smaller awhile back...
...a side-by-side comparison:

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I have the blazer tank with the 0-90 ohm sender. The gauge will not peg when grounded but will reach empty, I just think the gauge is bad but will poke further into it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I took the truck out for a cruise, even hit the freeway for a bit. Hooked up the switch for the converter lock-up also.

Scored a good deal on Craig's list, 94 model Astro van hydro boost. Anybody have an idea if I can swap the master cylinder so I can get rid of the plastic one from the van. I like the looks of the corvette style. I will be running discs on front and drums on back.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I drove mine. Even picked up some plywood at the store. I either need a fan shroud bigger radiator or an electric pusher fan to help in cooling the BB.

Drove it 600 miles on the HotRod power tour. The old 250 with T5 hung right in. Got over 20 MPG. Had a blast with her.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Not a lot.... drove it out of the garage and then back in again near 11pm
Loud, Raucous, Antisocial Thuggery is how my old neighbour would have described what I am planning. Courier delivered delivered these today. Note the can of Pepsi Max for perspective, the can fits inside the pipes loosely. 3 inches of deep thundering joy once I build the rest of the system. The other thing I got today was a 2 berth caravan that had been used for some time as a large dog kennel. I gutted the curtains, floor mats and all the mattresses before I even towed it home behind Nicola's car (which was today exchanged after failing its MOT ) I had been looking for a small shed to put up around the back at the garage, in which I could store all the parts of the Chevy as I stripped it, when the idea struck me, as I knew the local pub landlord had a 2 berth caravan to sell for £50.00 Before I went down there, I called him and offered £40.00 which he accepted. This is what I fetched........ 7 foot wide, body 13 foot long. Back home I started to remove all the stuff inside, which includes a full awning, port-a-loo, water roll, cutlery, glasses, pans, and some other random stuff, including a spare wheel. Tomorrow I will vacuum clean it on the inside, then take my pressure cleaner to the inside too and wash the inside down, after which it needs to dry out, while I wash down the outsides. Then park it around back, and start packing truck stuff from the garage into it. Landed. With some of the treasures. Despite being terribly grubby, it has a small toilet onboard and has potential to be restored to use once it has served its purpose as a spares shed. That's all for tonight.
