Re: A '54 named Busty

I quickly determined that was not enough holes to plug and quickly staged three more (clutch, throttle, and starter?) for pluggulating

and yes technically one of them was riveted shut already, but by golly I can't have someone else's shady work, it has to be all my shady work

and so I sliced them off or open what ever you want to call it exposing those lovely pockets for dirt, grime, and rust to fester!

and then I used the square peg over the round hole technique to plugerize them - it was getting late when I snapped these pics so I will grind them tomorrow

That's not a lot of holes, This is a lot of holes...

I agree on it feeling good to work in a "cleanish" shop. I had to sweep and vacuum 2 times last week because the grinding dust got so thick on the floor it was slick.

Re: A '54 named Busty

I hated the way this plate at the base of the 60-66 steering column fit or should i say didn't fit right, so I removed it so I could trim it and beat it into proper shape-atology

Re: A '54 named Busty

so the idea is fill the big holes allowing us to install more common sized gauges instead of the 18" ones, ha ha

in the first pic I was just holding it up from the back before trimming it some more to make it fit nice and flush like in the later pics

And again, wow, I did not even think of those two, I was just going for no engine fumes in the cab for once, ha ha, but I'll take those other two!

Re: A '54 named Busty

Holes plugged. Check. Inside primed. Check. Plugs made for large round gauge holes. Check. BTW, those gauge hole plugs are nice!

The list is shorter today.

Re: A '54 named Busty

Going back to the state down, the chair and gin you should tie the hood down and run it like that just once. Ain't nobody gonna run up against that on the street. Looks like it eats imports for breakfast, haha. Just mean for no reason.
Keep it up and you'll be done in no time.

ha ha, I be lying to you if the thought hadn't crossed my mind, even considered tapering the front to match the hood Prowler style and running open wheels in the front (... but that's not on the list!)

Re: A '54 named Busty

and we shot this section Gloss Black ?! because it's what we had and it is going to get covered up with SEM Undercoating anyways

and we sprayed until we ran out of paint (two cans) and yes the first stupid nozzle got stuck in the spray position so I just sprayed it out on the cab floor which I didn't plan on painting yet (second can of KRYLON spray paint this has happened on, now I would expect this on a $4.00 dollar can of spray paint but not on an $8.00 dollar one, I mean come on right?!

Re: A '54 named Busty

... and now this:

Quarantine beards and respirators do not mix, I was wondering why I'm sucking fumes in my trusty 3M mask, so I changed the cartridges and still I was tasting paint, and then it hit me, my ZZ Top beard had to go

Re: A '54 named Busty

Nice paint work.

Tell LE that he's right about the beard interfering with the mask seal.
