Re: post up your camping pics
loaded the camper the other day, holidays come this sat
first day of rain in like 3-4 weeks, wonder if it will be enough to lift the fire ban...doubt it actually dont matter, wife went and bought us a "campfire" one of them propane thingys, fire ban legal. her theory, whats camping without a fire? i guess, but i dont get to feed it or "play" with it..... |

Haha. I'm with you. We make such gnarly fires in the desert that you can't get near them. I had myself a 6' fire poker made. The black smith at the Ponderosa at Lake Tahoe made it for me way back when. One of my prize possessions!

Re: post up your camping pics
^^^yup^^^
"accidently" dropped a 80 foot fir into our fire once..... just got back from our abbreviated holidays, was'nt quite what i was hoping for, but i'll take any day that's not at work....and we had zero problems, nothing with the truck, quads, or boat, just mega-bugs! really enjoyed going to Mehatl Creek last yr, so for once we did a repeat, but we went in further this time, very remote area, saw nobody or anything except for a floatplane, which i'll come back to later. Mehatl Creek area https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.91388.../data=!3m1!1e3 google pic of where we stayed (red "X") load 'em up and head 'em out, no traffic- bonus! |

Re: post up your camping pics
with all the wildfires burning right now, there is a complete fire ban on, but we do have the ban legal "campfire" the wifey bought. i will admit, it is ok, 'specially if there is a ban on. no finding and chopping wood, dont have to feed it, and best of all for wife, no smoke (her and smoke do NOT get along...lol)
so maintanence free i actually passed out in my camp chair all night, the first nite. our fake fire out cruising the lake first morning. some big interesting cliffs around the lake |

well if i cant get to pyramid, going to head over to Kookipi/Shovel creek rd.
this is the rd that runs from Harrison lake to the backside of Nahatlatch. road is closed still at the Harrison end cause the fire is getting bigger... Kookipi suffered a fire last yr too Kookipi river, a waterfall on it |

we're at Grizzly falls earlier this yr than last, so the falls are a little bigger. can just imagine a couple months ago on high water run-off....again, was a nice place to be on a hi 80's day. nice, cool mist coming off the falls

Re: post up your camping pics
we rode up Whistlepig mountain, but it was nothing like last yr. Whistlepig has lost all it's beauty, it too suffered a fire not too long ago.
went on a ride north of our site, heading up behind Stein Valley park. got about 70 miles than hit this washed out bridge. i was able to get around it, but did'nt have the fuel to keep going and get back. but i will be coming up here on a weekend now that i know i can get around it.... |

Re: post up your camping pics
had some weird things happen to me a few times....picked up a new one...
we were about 60 miles in the bush away from everyone, have'nt seen anyone in a week, have'nt heard anyone in a week. last nite we were there, this white malumute (?) type puppy wondered into our campsite. have no clue where she came from, no tags or id, seems pretty well fed, but she did scarf dawgs food bowl and some left over hot dogs we had... dirty dawg is liking this, his own girl on holidays....yeah when we woke up next morning, she was gone....we were going to bring her down to Boston Bar, but we never seen her again, not even when we left |
