Re: My 57 Pro Street

Well I got the tank installed.
Made a cradle out of some angle iron.
The pics pretty much tell the story.

Re: My 57 Pro Street

Picked up these nuts and welded them into the frame to hold the cradle.
Also made some hold downs out of 1" strap and 3/8x16 couplers.
Drilled out part of the threads on the couplers and inserted some 3/8 rod.
Ended up removing the piece of 1x1 I had in the middle for another piece of angle iron at the front.

Re: My 57 Pro Street

A few more pics of it installed. I have some rubber strap that I cut protecting the tank.
I'm thinking about painting it. I've seen some powder coated that looked decent.
Just have to plumb it all and do some finish welding and I should be able to paint my frame.

Kim, Love the fab and install of the tank. If you ever have to remove tank, will you have to remove floor?.....Jim

The tank will only come out through the top so I will need to remove the bed floor to get it out.

I got them at Mcfadden-Dale hardware. I've seen them at Home Depot also.
They are coupler nuts.

Re: My 57 Pro Street

fab work looks great kim

looks like your running an exterior fuel pump from the lines coming out of the bottom sump.
i have a no-limit tank with internal pump, i've had to drop the tank twice to service the pump in 2 yrs.
i've heard external pumps are noisy, if i have to pull mine one more time; i will find out how noisy.
i'd rather have a pump that works than a quite pump. i recommend against the internal pumps anymore.

Thanks.
I'm using a Walbro 255 LPH in-line pump. The guys in the LS section recommended it.
Going to run a pre-filter then the pump then a filter/regulator off a 03 Vette.

It's a bit pricey but does the job. In wish the finish was a little tougher though.

Yeah you have to be so careful with the wrenches, I didn't have a return line so it was a simpler system, I put electricians tape on a cresent wrench to soften the impact.
