Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build

I did find some time after work today to strip the 3rd door to bare metal.
Hopefully I can get some epoxy on it this weekend.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build

Finally the last peice of rust is gone from this truck the passenger side floor board was baddly pitted from the under dash ac. I bought a counter parts patch panel and I am less then impressed with it, but its better then the current floor. I got it all cut out and the new section tacked in but ran out of time before I could finish it up.

Project is coming along nicely. Wish I was over the crew fabrication hump already. Mine has involved both rust repair and fabrication, so you got it made lol. Trevor

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build

Started working on the firewall welding up all the holes I don't need.
I have a old air unit I am going to install but I don't want to use the outer block off plate so I am working on a way to mount it without seeing any bolts or nuts.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build

Soon you will be all done with the cab and you will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
You are almost to the fun (and the expensive) part of the build.
The cool part is depending on who you talk to the cab alone is now worth anywhere between 5 and 10 grand just as it sits.

Yea I can see the light at the end of the tunnel it's kind of weird doing normal
stuff like sanding and priming. I am glad to be moving on to a different part of the build.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build

I did get some work done today I figured out how I am going to mount the old air unit without any visible fastners on the firewall. I made a bigger plate that bolts to the unit so I can access the mounting studs that I will weld to the firewall on the inside of cab. I added 3 extra mounting points to add some strength 7 in total.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build

Here are some pics of the truck I parted to build this one, I traded it to my buddy it's basically my old cab and frame he did everthing else good to see him making progress.
He went all out with the poterbuilt extreme setup with the extra frame stiffner. He has been talking about doing a build thread but just hasn't done it yet.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build

Nice work adapting the firewall to the A/C unit.
Are you going to go ahead and round off the firewall at the blower location to match the other side or are you going to leave it stock?
