Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
I did stuff again! (with shoes on)
That Van Sickle finished out SWEET! (takes three hot cycles with a fingernail brush to get it off your skin and toenails) I got all those parts hung up and the fun-dome cleaned out. Sanded the sags out of the hood and gave that and the tail gate a good scuff and clean. Laid down a couple fat coats of G2 and will knock that down with 150 and re-coat tomorrow. Smells good in the shop again!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Snakes 10 - Johnny 22 FINAL
Third time's a charm right? I made the same mistake on the hood as I did in the cab the first time I shot the G2. I layed down perfect, heavy orange-peel on a perfect panel. That was fun to sand for no reason. Snakes 7. I rallied and 150 blocked the hood and gate followed by a good scuff round the edges. Johnny 14. They look awesome!!! Johnny 22 (went for 2 and got it for no reason). Not enough thinner to spray another round. Snakes 10. Johnny takes a knee and takes a HUGE pull of elephant jerky. That tail gate is only gettin one more lick. I'd say the same about the hood but I'm almost sure the OCD is gonna kick in and it'll take more. Knuckle-Head sold that close ratio Muncie for $500.00 Folded like a cheap suitcase. He's got his motor to long block now and will be scoring the S10 mounts and headers, intake and some accessories.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Started as a used two-bolt 350 +0.030 He had it tanked, fluxed, honed, decked, cam bearings and crank polish. Summit re-ring kit. After he got the bottom end put together we found that it had them "rebuilder" pistons, which are -.025 compression height. I tried to talk him into pistons but he's on the cheap. I gave him some smoggy 882 heads with 194's and he put them sissy 0.015 head gaskets on there for 8.9:1. He cleaned up the valves and re-assembled with new seals and scored a miled Lunati cam and lifters. I have a nice donor Q-jet and he's got the GM intake pictured, which I think would be perfect from like 500-5500 but NOOOOO he's after a 8000 RPM single-plane and that little 600CFM Holley of mine he's got sitting on there. I'm sure it'll ROCK in any configuration in that little pickup with the Lincoln Locker
He'll be OFF my insurance soon.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Weekend came and went and NO work on the truck. We did get out for an awesome ride tho! Last night I shot more hi-build on the hood and tail gate followed with a guide coat. I decided to take today off and I'm going out there to block those parts out and get to scuffin on my doors and fenders
For some damn reason I can't upload photos??? Security token??? I've got some nice shots from our ride and hope to upload some body panel shots tonight. Hope this tube link works... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjo9SxaPdZA

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Well I didn't go to work yesterday. The PLAN was to work on the TRUCK. I got out there and got the hood pretty well blocked then RINGGGG RINGGGG....
My daughter is broke down on the highway. Me, the Boy and a chain head out to the rescue. Turns out her Subaru lost a timing belt and I spent the rest of the day doing that only to find out it's an interference engine and we got bent valves folks. Looks like I'll be tied up on NOT THE TRUCK here for another short spell.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
It was too damn easy. We cracked it open, ran to Napa for the $35 belt and had it back together, all in 4 or 5 hours. Only wish we had done that BEFORE it let go. Dammit! The second hole we tested for compression was zero and thats when we dropped the tools. Still gotta check the other two and hopefully it's just one head that needs peeled off. Sure hope the pistons are OK.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
I was pretty lucky to find such a solid truck and this forum! I can't wait to get back on the mechanicals.
Yesterday after work I got the Subaru back in the shop and finished the compression test. Luckily, both holes on the driver's side were better than 150psi and holding so I ripped the passenger side off. It was much smoother than you'd imagine. The only cussin I did was when we were pushing the thing into the shop! I gotta get some more gravel out in front of the door so it's not such a step up onto the slab! Sure-e-nuff, all the intakes on that head are dinked. I'll be dropping that off today for a basic valve job and checked for flatness. The Boy got his dizzy built the day before and kitted a Holley I gave him last night.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Yesssss the picture upload thing is working again! Here's those riding shots from last weekend. In the fourth picture you can see the rock face WAAAY across the valley. That's where the first three shots were from and where we shot the video. Would like to go out again this weekend but it's looking pretty busy
