There is certainly a reason why the enhanced these trucks and have moved on from the old carb stuff but hey if I'm building a classic why not keep the theme nothin beats the look of a beefy naturally aspirated motor's air cleaner. definitely a plus being able to fix it myself if indeed a breakdown occurs god forbid on a long trip. plus I need something to keep me busy on the weekends when I finally "finish" this truck.

Maybe I'll go LS or even Dmax status when I do a pull rig actually that's a for sure on either motor for the next build
Nope you didnt come off as rude at all! This is your truck and their is a lot of decisions to be made and a lot of info and options to consider! That is why the forum is here to bounce ideas off of and throw opinions out! A lot of great ideas come out on the forum and the builds get pushed to new and exciting levels! And ultimately you have to go with what makes you happy, if no one else likes it, but it fits you, so be it! It's your truck.

I couldn't have saint any better even if I was a motivational speaker that's exactly why I love this forum and this brotherhood it can really bring people together and even motivate those that have hit the tallest wall to climb in their projects.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Well got down to sanding tonight so here's the progress and product I'm using

I started by using my triangular file's pointed end to dig out the designed grooves for the grip itself and was quite impressed how easily this task was as you can see most of the original look is back already with just one round of that. then I moved onto sanding the next 2 1/2 hours ( Note to self spread epoxy thinly next time ). Used 80 grit to knock down just about everything I'll soften the grit as I go through my phases. I felt pretty at home doing all of this I've watched my dad so long when he's done projects that I guess I got some of his talent finally . Finally I layed down some more epoxy to fill in the cracks on the backside of the grip and pretty much did every valley but they should turn out well. So far I'm very happy with the results of the filler and it's got me looking forward to finishing the sanding quickly so I can lay some paint down more tomorrow

Also does anybody know what this little symbol is on the backside? is it just a part of the wheel maker's mark or is it special? I havent covered it yet I probably wont

The product is above its called Pc-7 two step process once mixed together like bondo it binds together and can be used to fill a lot of different products apparently. Ill et you guys all know how well it worked once this wheel is in use. Can't really get a good gauge on it right yet

Currently just rustoleum which I'm kinda curious if its the paint that semi cracks, if its just the cracks in the wheel trying to be filled, or the weather messing it up.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Be sure to light coat through out the week when you do rustoleum has a tendency to crack if the coat is too wet. Which I believe is the issue I'm having. But I'm being rushed for this so that's why. Thanks for checking the progress out.
