Re: My 52 GMC Build

So today I drove the truck out of the garage to the driveway. Brakes, power steering, transmission, gauges. All working great. I put it up on jack stands to put the transmission through the gears. I even saw 2 psi on the boost gauge. Vid below

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Thanks guys!! One of the reasons for the turbo was the whistle.
Here is a vid of me pulling it out and checking brakes, ps and gears.

Thanks. I'm leaving the paint the way it is with just the clear coat till I get a bigger shop. Then some sort of 2 tone paint.

Just watched your video. Love the sound of that motor. Do you have to keep the leash on so it doesn't run off

We had a little space heater in the cab. I don't have my 12v heater in yet.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

This will be my last update for 2 weeks as my GF and I are going on holidays tomorrow to British Columbia. Vancouver/ Vancouver island area. I will be keeping up to date tho.
So Monday I found out the plastic I used for my shifter adapter does not like -25*C -13*F. So I made this new one out of brass.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Thanks AD It was great.

So this week I have been working at putting the front clip back on. WOW is it stressful working with painted parts (clear). I used all stainless bolts and got it all lined up and centered on the frame. I really like how the gloss black looks next to the old. Then I adjusted the hood, I had to add 2 little washers in the center rear to bring the center down a bit.
Hood lines up with cab really well and front clip is centered on the frame but the hood is off to the passenger side a 1/4". Humm it wasn't like that before. Think, think, measure, measure. I found the cab is not quite straight on the frame. No big deal I wondered about that when I tightened up the cab mounts. I should get it fixed up tomorrow.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Damn it..started on page one and just had to read through all of them.
what a superb build! great manufacturing skills. and in the first video I love the whole truck lunging to the right, like it wants to tip over
Turbo diesel V8..it just doesn't get any better !!
I'd leave the visor and hood as is, just clear coat them.

practical question, when you tunnel the tranny like that..what if you have to work on it, is there enough space to get around it?
