Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

On Friday I finally got the rear end all finished and buttoned up and I brought it home from the school shop. All it needs is a little paint on the cover and the adjusters to be set correctly

And today I did some drilling on the frame and got the power steering box mocked up with the adaptor plate

Thanks Craig.

I thought I would show all you guys what my dad just picked up on the weekend. 68 gmc 3/4 ton burb with a 72 front clip and a 72 frame so it already has disk brakes and power steering. Has a 350/350 and runs like a top, made the trip back home no problem. His plan is to get it painted the original colour (olive green) and make it his daily driver/hauler. The previous owner had done some strange things to it.

Thanks Doug, I'll have to see about creating a build thread for it sometime soon.

Thanks tony, haha I don't know, I think my dad would prefer the good old 350.

Thanks John, so do I, and to make it even cooler he is going to go back with the original white roof as well, and probably even the factory side window tint that it was ordered new with (the original sticker in the glove box is still there and one of the many options it had was tinted windows!)

Thanks, however i think it might be a frame swap since the vin on the body says it's a half ton

Yeah, same here. No snow yet, but temps have really dropped. And that makes for bad painting weather. lol I do have a shop so that helps, but it takes a Long time to get it warm enough in there to paint.

Actually yes, he is selling for quite a good prices. But nothing is advertised, he only sells if someone comes knocking on his door with an offer. he doesn't mind parting things out, except for the 63 k10, that he doesn't want to separate, but I don't blame him

Dads suburban looks great on the pics.

Glad you found a nice car and a runner.

Your honey hole is an even better find, especially if you plan on doing another truck in future.
