Hey Mike, I noticed that you and Chip were working together on the Blazer, so I did a quick check on google earth and even though two different states, you guys are only a about 10 miles apart (straight as the crow flies). Yes , Chip (Tireblazin) has been a HUGE help and part of this build, if he wouldnt have voluntered to help me and let me use his shop i probably wouldnt have even really considered trying to do this build, since i have no shop ! Luckily for me he is a great friend and my only close friend in this area that also has a car ADDICTION ! Thanks CHIP !

Ok i need some of you Motor guys to educate me...what is the difference in 5.3 and Ls1, Ls2 , Ls3...... ????? I am getting really confused looking at all these different motors ? Go all aluminum or not all aluminum ?

Wow, that's beefy! Love the splined sway bar.

Keep it simple and cheap on the engine. Go with an iron block 5.3L unless you find a smoking deal on something else. I don't think you're going for a tire fryer, just a cruiser? Stock 5.3L's have more than enough guts to get you around quickly and efficiently, and if you ever get bored just cam it. The tune you will get alone will be a huge improvement over stock. Aluminum engines and 6.0's have more potential but also cost more, save your bucks and spend it on "cool" : )

I agree with LEEVON, get a LM7 (iron block 5.3 out of GM truck). With a small cam and a good tune, you have 400hp and can get 18-20mpg.

hummmm !!!! where have i seen that front end set up before !!! lol its gona be killer you'll love it ,,, as for the engine i agree with the guys , the twin turbo powerplant i'm building its an lm7 5.3 , hundreds of them out there

If your buying a complete motor the 5.3 is a good deal. If your building a block, start with a 6.0 or 6.2. You can build a 500hp motor with ease that will run on pump gas with the a/c blasting all day long.

I agree. The aluminum blocks dont save as much weight as you'd think either, not that you're worried about weight in K5, lol. Unless youre looking for BIG power, 5.3s are great. I mean, thats what i went with!

i think the frame can be made quite a bit straighter you only need to get the bodymounts farther out

seen jessy james on one of his builds weld the frame on small box profile legs too the ramps of a four post lift to level it and keep it in place while he was cutting bending and welding on it (he was narrowing the front frame of an A ford) i was thinking of doing sumtin like that but only to fixate the frame with 2 3 foot beams about 4 inch square and some metal scrap to make some traingles and a few legs tackwelded to keep the frame floating in mid air after i cut it to put in the kick up for the diff as long as the tacks dont break i weld a little at the time at different places so it doesnt pull and the frame itself is straight to start with that should be enough
