Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Nate... I bought and installed the Cpp nodular 2" drop spindles but they didn't need reamed out. The DOM joint dropped right in. I'm guessing the smaller diameter of the conical hole is a little over what is required. If I tighten this up nice and tight it should be ok, right?

Do me a favor and send me some pics to tech@pbfab.com so I can put my eyeballs on it and see exactly what you have.

Thanks!

Curious to see what the outcome of the cpp spindles was? Planning on ordering my extreme dropmember this week and will be running the modular spindles. Thanks

The 73-87 spindle has a larger tie rod diameter which at times has led to the fitment question previously asked... we have been recommending the 63-70 that has a smaller diameter and is a much better fit with our tie-rod kit.

Same situation I ran into. You're going to have to bore it larger and then use a sleeve.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Just measured my CPP Nodular 63-70 spindles after reading through this. Got the coil-over Dropmember for my 57.

Mine measured at the large end at .600, the small end at .510.

The bolt supplied by Nate measured .620, so the spindle will need to be very slightly enlarged and should be a nice tight fit!

Just wanted to drop a line and ask if you have anything special for 1 ton trucks or are most removing and replacing the front crossmember?

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

My '57 front and rear version is supposed to be done today. Considering my truck is completely torn down, at least this will be progress when installed on the frame. I should be able to test it out in a year or so.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Thanks, I'm doing frame up, so it will be a while or more than a while before it will be done. Have to start somewhere, and the Porterbuilt stuff was the logical starting point. I've go things budgeted out for the next year at least. I bought the truck with no bed, and it turns out the previous owner decided to use the front clip from a '55 or'56. I thought it was just the grill and hood that was different. Turns out the only parts that compatible are the inner fenders and core support. That's going to set me back a ways. Turns out the only parts we are using will be the cab and frame.

Anyone close to Northern Arizona need a nice front clip for a '55 or '56?
