Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Glad to see more forward momentum. Cool wrenches too!! CNC machines, and the knowledge on how to use them, would make the sky the limit on parts for our trucks. So cool!

Thanks Scott, I will be following your footsteps of re doing rust repair soon after I get the drivetrain sorted out. You are doing great! Thanks Kyle! Yo Steve-O, just hangin' out. I have been watching Ruth, She may have grandmas name but that body is oooooo weeee! Smokin! Well I traded the silverado for a 4x4 tahoe, wifey started a new job with Life Church and went.. Oh the truck I cleaned up the upper intake the other day and installed it just to look at it all clean. I have to clean or upgrade($) the injector assembly and replace the seals before permanently mounting the plastic upper half. Today I removed the transmission then pulled the rear main seal and wiggled the retainer out so I can replace the rear main seal. Thats all for now, Slowly building momentum back up now that the weather/work/family business is going smooth.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Great progress since I was on here last! And I love your wrenches! I haven't done a damn thing on mine as all kinds of stuff went wrong in life including my Powerstroke got stolen from in front of my house and all I had was liability. Glad to see you are still progressing!

Ok so it turns out I had to drop the oil pan 1/2" to get the rear main seal retainer back in once I replaced the seal. I think the smart thing would be to just leave the retainer on the block while you replace the seal. Now I know for the future... Rear main pic Then I put the flywheel back on, torqued and loc-tite of course. I found out installing a trans on a rolling chassis is super easy More in just a minute..

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Back to the EGR, once I had the blockoff plate made and installed I needed to plug the hose from the intake to the exhaust manifold. I am too cheap to order a $20 plug from GMPP so I cut the flare fitting off the original tube. cut a slug and had our machine shop guys tig the slug in the fitting and I faced it on our lathe. Then I got a copper flare cap, These are used where you remove a flare line that needs blocked off. Perfect for this since the flare nut wont bottom out and seal properly alone.
Cheap and easy... just how I like 'em.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
I cleaned and painted the accessory brackets, installed a new water pump, overpriced bypass hose, temp sensor, crank position sensor, cleaned, painted and installed the old Power steering pump, old style heater hose fitting ( I hate those quick connect fittings, they are a great way to get stranded for a long time...), Installed the hedders, Hedman PN 69010.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
I also cleaned and installed the starter. This drivetrain was missing the dust shield on the bell housing so I have to go to pull a part and get one and a few other little parts.
Now with the Hedders on I started the exhaust. I am using a Flowmaster S bend assortment box and Summit racing H pipe balance tube kit. Hedders fit pretty good The first pipe getting mocked up. Exhaust work is not much fun when its 100* outside. I was dripping in sweat!! Driver side pipe mocked up Getting it all tucked up over the trans X member. I think I am going to split the trans X member so I can actually get the tranny out for service in the future..

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
More exhaust pics.
I installed the O2 sensor bungs and started fitting up the Summit H pipe. Oh and the driver side hedder.. I also installed the old school oil filter adapter and filter (I removed the oil cooler adapter). That should get me all up to date. More parts piling up, lots of work to do. Thanks for tuning in.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Thanks Jim!
Thanks Kyle Thank you Bompenstein, it has been a while since I checked on yours. I will have to catch up. Thanks Darien, good to hear from you. I was fitting up the rest of the H pipe and on out to the mufflers but I caught a snag with this crossover pipe. It is not low enough to clear the driveshaft so I have done a bunch of measuring and head scratching then ordered a 45* bend. Busy weekend anyway so I fixed the shower door and heading off to the church shortly. I hope to get it welded up to, and including the mufflers next weekend.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Nice to see you back and working on your truck again. I checked in every now and then, but it had been a while since you posted anything. I have gotten motivated again, and I really want to try and have it running by next spring. So, you will probably be hearing from me more often.

As you can see here there is not enough bend in the crossover This is how I plan to route it through the crossmember. Probably have to shorten the long straight leg to get the offset closer to the pivot of the training arm just incase, to maximize clearance.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Always wondered just how important that H pipe is. They are such a PITA to get into lowered trucks. I am dreading the exhaust work more than literally anything else on mine. I would gladly do body work before exhaust work.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Hey, Dan! Wanted to let you know the first page of your thread came in real handy today when I was working on the door pillar. Check out the last page of my thread for the details; don't want to take up space on your thread. Would like to know how you re-attached the screw cage thingy, though.
Thanks for the help! Darien

I got the new crossover pipe installed. Much better driveshaft clearance. I welded up the exhaust up to the TA crossmember and sprayed a little high heat paint on the welds. I made some exhaust hangers at work to keep everything high and tight.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
here are the hangars installed.
And then with the H pipe back in the chassis. I did not weld the tabs on yet because I have to cut down the offset pipe that comes through the crossmember.
