Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well tonight , while I was prepping my engine for paint , I got a text from Don . It was to tell me my hood bird I ordered had arrived at his place

The pictures from Don note they are of my bird on his hood

I will post the engine pictures once I have moved it out of the garage , as the pictures where a little dark , by the time I finished .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

just re read back a few pages, your making great progress, and shot blasting the front cross members is the way to go. I'd be like Rian and spend hours cleaning it and still not have it this clean. Think I might start using a shot blasters and Pr 15 on my next project.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well today was an interesting day . I had to go and fit a set of hand controls on a Tesla unfortunately nobody had done a kit for it. So off I went with a van full of all the parts we have acquired to make a kit from parts . Well it turned out really well .

These are the hand controls fitted . I managed to bring the fittings under the steering column , so there was no cutting of the plastics .

I then went for a spin these things are FAST but with no noise .its got an Electric motor 416 bhp (310 kW), 443 ft·lb (600 N·m), Three-phase AC induction motor .

Once I got home , I started working on the truck , as yesterday I collected my alternator and power steering carrier . Colin in my bike club had welded it up for me. So first thing first was to clean and degrease it . I then painted it with a steel wheel silver colour that I had in the garage . Then fitted it to the engine .

Sorry about the picture as it was getting dark by the time I had finished

So that's another day over .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well today I collected my front wishbones from the Sandblasters . Unfortunately I had to drop my dog at the vets on the way there . He has had an eye infection for the last two months , the vet has been treating it , but it kept re-occurring so they had no option but to put him under a general anaesthetic and operate . So after picking up my parts we stopped at a local market near the Sandblasters . It was more of a boot sale ( flea market ) with lots of second hand stuff mixed in with new stuff . I did manage to pick up a little metal model T money box though .
Tomorrow I plan on getting the wishbones painted . There is a couple of marks were someone at some point , removed the ball joint with a grinder , and Hit the wishbone. So I will weld up these small cuts before I paint them .

My freshly blasted wishbones

The blasters removed the shafts and stripped them for me total cost £40 about $60

One very upset rottie , and one very large vets bill £900 about $1350 . So pleased I have pet insurance . Just hope they don't take too long to pay me back . As I had to pay the bill then the insurance company eventually pay me .

The little model I picked up

Cool bank, and as mentioned, Bow (is that a girls name?) not looking impressed because the rest of the pack will be laughing at him

I know you claim to have been up all night with him, and are too tired to join me for the bootfair, but I smell a Rottweiler here. Did Amanda keep you up?

See you later then........

I didn't get much sleep last night , as my big Rottweiler spent most of the night trying to get his cone off , or whining in pain . So the thought of walking around a field at 6.30 am didn't quite appeal .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

So today I got my engine all back together . Just got to collect the rocker covers , air filter and billet pulley from Don's in October to finish it off .

After cleaning up the garage , I got the wishbones into the carport , and welded up the cut in one of the upper arms caused by a previous owner removing the ball joint with a grinder. I then cleaned up all the edges and removed and sharp edges or burrs .

I then got them cleaned up and primed ready for colour tomorrow .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well today it rained all day . So grinding down the rest of the chassis was out of the question , as I need to put my two motor bikes ,the push bikes and the engine hoist outside while I do all the grinding due to the mess it makes . So instead I painted the wishbones . It's another job that needed doing . That way when the chassis is finally painted all the parts will be ready for assembly

I decided to paint them silver

These parts will be fitted to them tomorrow

The reason I painted them silver is I had seen this picture and liked the look so that's what I am going for
