I was thinking the same thing....I'm not ready for boost on mine, but would be nice to be able to use this for it down the road!

All is looking great with your truck.

I know that sometimes You-Tube audio can be somewhat distorted, but B-4 you go for the head gasket, take a close look at your cam & lifters.
It seems like I can hear some racket on deceleration that would be about the right frequency for the valve train.
Like maybe a collapsed lifter or a flat cam-lobe....rocker arm stud pulling out...or .....who knows. Look for cupping or dishing of the bottom of the lifter to indicate cam-lobe issues.

Maybe jes my magination.

I am planning a full rebuild here next year(If all goes right), Were not sure yet, but I kinda was sure of the blown head gasket cause it seems to smoke a little at high revs....white smoke indicating water. Not sure, all I know is it is time for a rebuild. lol. Thanks again. T.J.

Hey Guys, I'm working on rebuilding a 250 for my '65 and I'm having a hell of a time locating parts. Specifically throttle linkage. You guys making your own or what? Where are you guys going to get standard rebuild kits for just seals and gaskets and such. Don't really need to do a full breakdown as my compression is great. Also have a lot of carb issues and I'm not familiar at all with these single barrels. sigh....

Are you doing a stock rebuild or performance rebuild??? I have throttle linkage parts for a 292, which might fit a 250 if you need some. (What type of issues with the carb?) If you are sticking to stock I would buy a reman single barrel. The oem single barrels can be a pain in the rear....I rebuilt my old one three times before I finally scrapped it.

I am doing a stock rebuild. I'm relieved that I'm not the only one with carb issues. I am dreading a 3rd rebuild. If you went the high road then I might need to as well. I had a lot of surging and some gasket leaks, then I do a rebuild and now it seems like there's no fuel getting to the carb. I can't think of any reason the linkages would be different and I pretty much need all of them. The PO just had some bent rod welded to more bent rod and all held in with clothes hangers and paper clips. It was atrocious enough that I didn't want to drive it home. Luckily I only lived about 6 miles away.

I would just buy a re-man carb, or better yet...convert to a two barrel holley. I have an adapter that adapts a two barrel carb down a to a one barrel manifold. There is a picture of my old two barrel setup in my build thread. If you convert to a two barrel you will have to fab a new linkage which would be pretty simple. Old carbs like that tend to get stuck floats and after time develop cracks which create leaks. Had this issue with mine. You can get a re-build kit at Napa for like $300 or $400 bucks(I THINK). I'll try and get you some pictures of the linkage I have. If you are interested in converting to a bigger better carb then I can help with that to. You can see info on my 292 in my build thread. T.J. Also....is your air/fuel mixture adjusted right?

I think T.J. meant that the new carb would be $300 or $400.....and the rebuild kit will be about $20 to $25 bucks.

Just how well did it run with a 2bbl holley and adapter to the stock 1bbl manifold? At some point I have to do something with my carb and dunno if I want this route, or a weber, or just complete change of manifold and carb together. This is on a 250.

Anyone know a good cam for a 230 inline? im trying to stay away from the clifford products as they are away from my budget. any other cam ideas?

Well, depending on what you have done to the 250...It will help for better performance. But if you do a manifold change like a Clifford and headers..then you may as well bolt on a small 4 barrel or a 500 cfm two barrel.

Yeh in my case its just a stocker, a little bump in performance and easier starting are the goals. The current one is a rebuilt that still leaks and no matter what I try needs starter fluid to start if it sits a couple of days. I'm very familiar with Holley 4 bbl so I think I could deal with working on a 2bbl version fine.

I have a two down to one barrel adapter. If you want some pictures of what it looks like I can send you some.

X's 2 Try "Delta" Cams. 1-800-562-5500 ask for Scott Bennatt. They are a great company to deal with I have dealings with them for many yrs. On their Regrind/s cams
And I have not had any problems The last big cam I got from them is just under 700 lift.

Nope! Here are some pictures! The adapter is from Trans Adapt. I got it for $50...if you want it I can give it to you for that price shipped(Or cheaper. lol). I have done some mods to it....But only to make installation easier. The last picture is the old two barrel setup on my 292...

That looks like a convienient place to plumb in water injection or a nitrous line

Thanks for the pics, I'll pass on buying it for now, at the moment I'm sinking my money into a new toy I bought a few weeks ago, an 84 Daytona Turbo.
