exactly what i was thinkin'.. overall i was not really impressed with the re-issue, like they could have fixed some things...this thing fought me big time during assembly, dont know why, trialed everything first... check out the gap when the body hits the frame...what the?? you can see my glue right thru this thing. did'nt catch it untill it was going together, so a quick fix.... |

It may have fought you, but it came out awesome. It looks great with the top and topless. I didn't notice the hose either. LOL

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
would'nt mind one more later and build it as a Jimmy, always been fond of the 67-72 gm grille. and i threw the hose in.. and i have been searching for another '50 so i could make a super cab, but after weeks of looking, no success. unless i want to pay $60 or more with ship & exchange & customs.....and all i really need is just the back of the cab & the running boards- just cant justify the cost for that ... (aint telling the wife, but i already got about $40-50 in aftermarket for it, tires, axles, etc) but i do have plenty of styrene.... except for angle, which i need more of... so, taken a different route with the '50 |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
eh, got to stretch this out Dale, stash is mighty low...
wit all the snow we got came a lot of shoveling... did'nt get nearly as much done as i was hoping swapped out the platic wood for some real wood. also shaved off the front bed braces- just did not "flow" in my eye... first part of the camper- decals on. will make some blue window frames, add some jacks & lights and a grab handle. awhile ago when i made that canoe, enjoyed it, so making one for the camper, which means it will also need a ladder & roof racks |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
snow, or more so the cold has been causing me nothing but grief on my '90 stepper Dale. doors keep freezing shut, pulled the weatherstrip off a couple times, tried getting the canopy lid open and the drivers handle snapped in half, then it bagged my starter, had to walk a couple miles home in -10 windchill....
so i said the hay with it, parked it, & re-insured the crewcab yesterday. half to use 4 hi a lot, in 2wd the locker keeps kickin' it sideways and i got 3 teeth done, 6 left. dentist fixed the half broken one, ripped out the nerves & re-capped it, and root canaled 2 others, shoved them back up, and fixed the chips on them. need 3 implants, their next. got held up cause a 3d scan showed up a fracture in my jaw where the teeth broke below the gum line . so thursday she jammed a screw in there & shot in some silicone, cement, mastic, whatever it was...give it some time, then she will try doing the implants.....woo-hoo, 2 more root canals coming up.. in 3 visits she has jammed me with a needle 23 times!, but thats my fault, i told her i WANT "gentle dental".... and have got a couple things done on the camper, just making axles for the truck furnace and fridge vents are on, lites, ladder, and the glass is in, it's just clean at the moment, hard to see...lol |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Camper is looking great. Sounds like you'll have your mouth back together soon. I'll quit complaining about how cold it is here. Your cold temperatures are way worse. ...lol

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
going to see her this friday...(dentist, man, almost 45 yrs without seeing one, then the last 5 yrs here.....jeebus...) and we finally broke above freezing! still got a lot of snow though- blah! stupid thing, after all this snow for the last couple weeks, today me & the boy are going up the Coquihalla....in the snow... got a couple trucks for christmas, hobby store nearest us has a real hurtin' selection of chevy's, but wife snagged me the wrecker, and my son got me the '41. half to figure out what i'll do with the '41, wrecker is easy- another "Alpine off road recovery" truck for the fleet son also got me this KX (almost an exact match for my old 1:1 KX) detailed it up a bit, mite use it on the '50 on a front hitch mount, but i think it's a 1/32. in my eyes it seems a little off scale. i'll wait and see not a lot done on the truck, been doing other stuff. body work is 95% there though |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
here's where i been spending most of my time lately.
it seems the smaller you go, the bigger the price gets...almost a hundred bucks for just a few accessories, so i been getting creative (spell cheap...) my sink is an Advil pill blister pack, not sure what the "fridge" is or from what, stove is scratched out of plastic with speaker wire grilles, and you dont really want to know where the fabric came from... ok, i'll tell ya, the ONLY blueish material that was kinda to scale in my whole house, was a pair of my "used" fruit of the looms (just dont sniff it..) still need to add curtains (not F.O.t L.'s) and some camper jacks, and whatever else pops into my head |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I got a question. Are you stripping the paint off of a painted model? If so what is your process? Thanks.

and thanks and Happy New Year to you too! last couple pics of a dying year... zee chevy stands on it's own, still needs everything, but it's up on four...even loaded, no sagging tail dragger only canoe's i could find blue were Coleman's & Old Town's. Old Town's logo was just letters & pretty boring, so another coleman it is... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
yup, waking up is half the battle....
things were cruising along nicely. changed the trans crossmember to fit the 427, just squeaks in on the inner fenders (with some tweaking) good clearance on the rad, but i did'nt check the exhaust six'er is a lot narrower then the 427. Turbo is much wider too exhaust is now banging on the frame...one thing the '50 has is real good vertical clearance under the hood. going to raise the motor mounts a bit, and prob put a tiny notch the frame started on the int. pretty much stock. just added the shifters and turn signal |

The stance looks great. I like the interior color too.I'm guessing trucks going to be blue.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
yeah, blue, blue, blue...gm medium brite blue. was digging around in the shed and found 2 frozen cans i was able to bring back to life... really need to mock up more of the motor (i usually use just the block..) was a bit more involved than i first figured. notched the frame and raised the engine mounts, also had to take 3/16 off the bottom of the inners, shaved the firewall thinner & bent the exhaust manifolds a bit...but it's in there... |
