Who set the standards for girls play with dolls and boys play with Tonka toys! I despise the stereotyping of I should be doing this, whereas my husband instinctively does that. However, my two girls, now 23 and 29, have never been interested in what's under the hood of a car, or how things work(regarding an automobile), but aren't most people like that? So when a person that has no sense of the machine their driving, but their brakes are squealing and have no clue what it is? No wonder mechanics can get into someone's wallet! or purse!


great attitude, I have three girls and they re encouraged to be involved in whatever they want to do. my oldest rides dirt bikes, horses and plays co-ed soccer and kicks butt. my youngest helped me mount my brake booster in the truck and likes "that dirty stuff". I pulled one of my girls off my Harley when she was 2.... keep up the work its good to see everyone involved in this sick and twisted hobby.

Thanks! I emphasize to the kids, especially my youngest here, Alexis (22) to pick up on things no matter what it is. She's about the only daughter that showed a little interest.
Here's what I see today. Family's have small homes, some without even a garage. Some live in an apartment and don't even know what a yard is, or what a chore is? Society today is online friends or invisible friends communicating through texting or how many friends they may have on Facebook. I hate it when my kids text me!

My dream is to move out of busy Houston, buy some acreage, have a kick ass place for the kids to behave like kids, have a variety of Toys(4 wheelers, a couple dirt bikes, a place to shoot guns, outdoor stuff), then a large shop~eh, 40 x 80 building for projects., Gary can have his Geological office in part of the building, and I have my classic cars and tools office. It's a dream, but all in all is to make memories for our kids and our kids kids. But we're seeing our kids in the trend of life~work, raising kids of their own, associated with life's little drama's, but fun seems to be more associated with electrical enjoyment(TV, online, texting, watching TV and texting) vs. being outside doing something!
oh, well, I have a rear end to work on~ I can't solve the problems of the world today!

Our youngest pointing out some concerns on her Rav4 with 300k miles on it. She drives 3 hours each way to visit us.

Really turned out nicely Denee. I sold my 2dr Tahoe a couple of weeks ago and now I'm ready for a C10 project. I'm hoping it turns out close to what you have. I really would like to move out of Houston and have a small shop and shoot my guns, but it seems that any piece of acreage being sold right now is somewhat overpriced. My .02

i can relate lady. In 2005 we moved to a large city thinking it would be good for a change of scenery, change of pace. Boy was it a change. The kids didn't adjust well, they fell into the same life as other city kids, glued to a tv, cell phone etc..... After 3 years of that nonsense, we moved back to our small home town and decided to slow things down a bit. We bought a nice piece of land, built a new home and shop, bought 4 used snow mobiles so we could enjoy some of the long winters, got the ski boat tuned up and got back into wrenching on trucks. We don't have a source of TV running to the house so if the kids want to watch something, they find it online or go to a friends house. But in reality, they don't even miss not having it. We're a 2 minute walk away from a beach on a beautiful fresh water lake where we fall asleep on summer evening to the call from the loons. My son spends his summers down there hanging with friends and swimming all day long. They are able to do whatever they please as far as recreation goes, except fire guns (we don't own any guns anyways) and have all the space and freedom they need to do so. Our 17 year old daughter has just started expressing interest in the 55 Chevy sedan I have sitting in the driveway. She works a well paying part time job and wants to start saving money so she can fix it up and drive it some day. It's nice to hear her say that, but she has yet to come out and throw on a set of coveralls to help on my truck and see what it's all about. I have faith that she will one day pick up the hobby. My 15 year old son would love to have a classic to drive all year round, but he lacks the drive to learn anything new. He's still in the teenage slug phase.

Now, this is a nice story, but with the typical ending of how the computer age is turning the younger humans into idiot savants, knowing how to do one thing very well, Iphoneitis, computeritis, etc. But your region of the world sounds heavenly~ Gods country!

I'd get some work done if my cell phone would quit ringing! argh! lol

This morning, this humid hot morning, I relocated the spring pads on the rear end. They were spaced too wide at 42.5", so I moved them to 41.5", amazing amount of work for just 1"~!
Then showing My Little Mule I at work! I'm telling ya~ you need one of these things!





The manual hoyer lift screw mechanism weighs alot, so I can put a little more weight way out and still won't tip over. I'm wanting to make a counter weight for heavier items that need to be further out. I love My Little Mule!

Thank you! It takes a while to go through build threads, I've read many! Incredible journeys! Now if I can just get that rear end back together! We've been on vacation for the past week and I'm anxious to get back to work! Actually working on my projects is challenging fun and I consider them vacations

Hi! Thank you for reading my thread! When I read my own build thread, it's like I'm reading someone else's build thread! Mistakes were made, bad choices, but I do consider every page a learning lesson. I hope on this next project to do better! And yes, that BRGreen is more then likely the color it will wind up being

Oh! I forgot to say that the truck looks great and your use of the "mule" inspired me to get one for myself! Much easier than using the forklift for the smaller stuff!
