Re: My long term 57 project

Thanks guys!

I went with the coils over the bags for the simplicity and to avoid the expense of the air management system!

Re: My long term 57 project

No updates on the frame work, but I did get some work done on the truck!

I had to consolidate a couple of storage units and came across a carpet kit I purchased nearly 10 years ago! Since the weather has been so warm here, I laid it out in the sun to remove some of the wrinkles and glued it in.

Had to cut out a new hole for the dimmer switch because I moved it when I welded up the firewall. Was able to glue what I cut out into the pre-punched hole, can't even see it now.

Stealing a idea from fellow board member Russell, I attached the factory gas pedal to my billet floor mounted pedal. Just used 3M trim tape for now, will give it a try first before mounting it permanently.

Re: My long term 57 project

And the accelerator pedal looks really good with the stock looking cover. Is that the Lokar throught the floor item? I had one in my truck to keep the firewall clear.

Re: My long term 57 project

Thanks Guys!

The pedal came from Gennie Shifter, bought it many years ago, Lokar has one very similar.

Merry Christmas!

Re: My long term 57 project

Ordered the Altman Easy Latch Kit from Yogi's, looks like a very nice product!
Cleaned up the door panel inserts and latch pieces, primed and painted them while it's still warm here! Should have them installed next weekend.

Its funny, I ordered them and now the latest issue of Classis Trucks has a full install article on them!

Re: My long term 57 project

if you have time,, check to see how much room they take up up inside the door cavity.. I want to put a 1 piece window in my doors and add those latches so my doors shut better, with the 1 piece windows they have to slide back just to roll down, thanks Tinker

Re: My long term 57 project

Tinker, I'll be sure to post pic's of the install. The pictures from the instructions and from a recent article in Classic Trucks shows that the latch doesn't intrude beyond the factory glass channel.

Yes, grabbed it from their eBay store. They had the long panel version listed with the short panel price! They have since fixed the ad.

So, what happened JJ? Life?

PS: Looking at your floor in the post above, why'd you partially leave the Dynamat off the seat mounting rib? Enquiring minds (nosy-ass posters) want to know!

Hey Dan! Yep life has a way of slowing our builds down for sure! Been busy with the kids, working in the new yard and I've about gotten my garage set up the way I want it. I'm really wanting get going again on the door latches and the new frame again soon, but got to take the Kids to Disney this weekend!!

I have no reason why I didn't cover that one spot on the floor, other than I figured it didn't need it since its a raised section.

I have also been trying to figure where to put this:

HAHAHAHA! Welcome to the cool kids club. So happy to see a chevy converted to a gmc. My 56 is real but my 69 is in the conversion process. I especially love the dash. It looks good and removes the last vestiges of chevy truckness. Sorry Ogre. Lookin great Chuck!

Well, the best place would of course be to modify whatever seat you ultimately use to insert it at the top center ala an Impala in keeping with the theme you've established by putting in the dashboard.

But if for any reason you don't do that and you still want to use it, I'd suggest as part of an overhead center console, or as a compartment door in a traditional center console on the floor.

Re: My long term 57 project

I know I'm all over the place on my build, so why not throw in another twist! A good buddy turned me on to a sale Black Widow Exhaust was having on the 4th, so I picked up a pair of their Venom mufflers to replace my Flowmaster Super 40s.

They're 2 1/2 stainless with nothing inside but two angled baffles, pretty much straight through.

These are moving to the top of my install list for sure!!

Re: My long term 57 project

I woulda thought you could be heard coming from a mile away with the 40's. Now? I'll hear you here in SoCal when you rev her up, lol!

Maybe you should record a Before and After, I'd love to hear it.

Re: My long term 57 project

Definately post some Flowmaster vs. Black Widow videos. I really love Flowmaster 40's but if there is something better I'm all for it.
It just don't get any better than a radical cam and Flowmasters. 'Murica!
