Re: And so it begins................
Ok the brown santa brought some parts yesterday so I threw them in!
Got the new fresh air cowl vent installed but it's not closing. Looks like some new vacum lines are in the near future! New washer pump installed on new wiper motor. Finally got the motor installed!!! Duct kit? No sir! DUCT TAPE! LOL The new motor is officially buried again!! AND WE HAVE WASHER FLUID!!!!!!!! The wipers are working good too but it's hard to take a pic of that! Last edited by highperf4x4; 03-17-2010 at 12:06 AM. |

Re: And so it begins................
Here's some more pics of the gauge panel I got from Edd Dial
Ok John!! I changed the freakin dash lights to blue and now they're not bright enough!!!!! Actually I bought the bulbs at O'reily's and they were slightly smaller than the purple bulbs installed by Edd Dial. I'm not sure if there is a difference or what. I guess I'll see if I can order some online. Last edited by highperf4x4; 03-17-2010 at 12:10 AM. |

Re: And so it begins................
Thanks bro! They would look better if they would light up a little more. I guess my dash light issue is still "ongoing". I might stick a couple of the purple ones back in the 2 outer locations until I get some different bulbs. I also lost the fiber optic light on my shift colum so I guess I need to replace that socket.
It's never done! |

Well it isn't alot of fun to replace the wiper motor but it isn't impossible. I had never done one on these trucks before and I managed to get through it without too much trouble. If's a motivator to take care of other things that need attention too. |

Repairs look good man. Head on down here, and I have vacuum line that we can get you fixed up with.
On the bulbs. Have you thought about using some of the LED's? That may give you the look you're wanting, and the brightness as well. |

Speaking of engines, I rounded up my new block for the 383 tonight from a guy up in Piedmont. I got a virgin 4bolt with 2piece rear seal to go with my 400 crankshaft and it has almost no ring ridge at all. There is a catch though. The casting number is 3970010. So, this block could potentially be a numbers matching 302 Z28 block from a '69 camaro. Therefore, I could probably turn a profit on it, help someone finish a numbers matching resto project and get another 4bolt from the same guy with money left over. But then I'd lose the right to say I built my 383 from a 302 Z28 block! Decisions decisions. I'm probably gonna keep it. The block was cast for 302, 327, and 350 so it's probably not as important as I think it is! Last edited by highperf4x4; 03-22-2010 at 12:22 AM. |

Re: And so it begins................
Nice score!
I've got the same block in my garage, only it's the two bolt version.

Re: And so it begins................
If it's a DZ302 block man it's important to a Camaro guy. Some guys will pay pretty penny for one of those. Not as much as one that is complete with the correct intake and stuff, but may be worth looking into.

I don't know if it's a 302 block or not. I was just shooting the bull. More than likely it's from a 350. |
