That truck looks awesome, super solid and complete. I agree, I would clean it, fix any rust that might not be visible(looks like none in pics), maybe some drivertrain upgrades, brakes and a few coats of satin clear paint.

Dialed!

Yes I agree !! I asked the Moderator if we could have a 47-59 suburban & panel sub forum

& they replied that there was not enough interest ???. Not to be a instigator but if they got enough requests...????

Re: Show us your projects

I'd like that, but atleast they gave us projects and builds sub category. I think also it might take away from that category itself if there were too many sub cats. Its a toss up but me personally I'd like to see and all AD truck only category, but I understand they gotta keep it clean with less categories.

Re: Show us your projects

There are so few panel owners any sub-category would be a ghost town.

Re: Show us your projects

Ok, on the road, 700+ miles so far, running like a champ.

New tires, steering mods to eliminate the rag joint and go to U-joints and I wired in the park/neutral switch that had been eliminated and should not have been. Now the PCM knows it's in gear. Took it to Old Town a few times already, having a blast.
Now onto windlace channels, new carpet and latch upgrades.

Note: replacement chinese latches are TERRIBLE!

Thanks! Still a work in progress, but happy so far.

Next is A/C and heat, better latches since Chinese repops are terrible and carpeting.

1,000 miles on her now.

Love the above trucks guys!

Skymangs, looks like my truck did 10 months ago.

Cali707sf, i'm not a chopped top guy, but with an all out custom, dig it!

Keep the pics coming!

Are you using oem style wipers, or electric conversion stuff(like I did). Also curious about your A/C set up?

I'm using a 97 blazer rear wiper motor with a 2002 blazer switch. They work pretty well. The high speed is almost continuous wipe, and the low speed wipes every 4-5 seconds like delay. I built my own adaptor to mount the wiper motor (out of steel, but based on a cool aluminum one I saw on this site). Details on the wiper setup are in my build thread (link in my sig).

AC was another issue. I built my own accessory brackets to use a Harrison R4 pancake compressor, a universal condensor/dryer setup, and a modifed underdash evaporator. I don't have it all worked out yet, so no info in my build thread, but it will be up there soon. Probably start posting pics and such tomorrow. Waiting on condensor and dryer to arrive. Hope that helps.

Re: Show us your projects

Well I thought I'd share my 1951 five window that I've had for close to a year now. It's running a 250 with a 350 trans. Has a Helix mustang II IFS with manual rack. Frame had small c-notch bagged on all four corners.

I've recently installed all new door glass and felt. About to get ready to install custom Hardwood bed and new carpet kit. Also not sure if I should Reupholster the original bench seat or look for some buckets from a newer truck. Trying to keep it more og but it sure looks comfortable with the newer seats.

What color is that? Very Nice truck!

I have 56 GMC, and I'm Gathering parts fo it, so it's kind of a project.
And I love that color!

I think you nailed it!! Love the color and the stance.. Nice job..

As for the seat, if you are around 6' tall or more it will not be comfortable with the original. I think you'd be happier with a later model seat and then upholster it to your liking. Try a 60/40 bench seat or bench with armrest. I've used a Lumina bench seat in the past and upholstered to look more period. Just my opinion.
Love the truck!!

Nice 51 man!
Cool that you kept a 6 cylinder in there! I was thinking of building one with a six, turbo V6 or even 4 cyl someday.
