You've done so much detail work making it a dang nice driver it would be a shame if it sat any because the seats were too hot. The tan or brown will help with the 2-55 AC. The truck looks great!

I am curious if you got new marker lenses for the dual fenders? And if so, where did you get them from? I'm been snooping around but can't seem to find any for my 1986.

Thanks for the compliment my western friend... I have a nice set of scuffed up crappy market lights in my rear fenders... However I am about to order these markers from...

Those ones in the LMC catalog aren't specified for dual fenders though.....

Are the vertical side markers the same lenses as for the dually markers?

yes 73-80 front fender marker lights are the same as the dually fender and step side marker lights just diffrent colors

Any chance your going to cut out the back wall of the cab and fit a large back window like a regular truck does? Looks like the pattern is already formed into the cab, so not clue if it would be as easy as just cutting the metal out or not..

Good morning all,

I appear to be having some issues with starting my truck. On Saturday I pulled it out of my shop which is always heated, out into the cold.

I did some work on another vehicle. Later Saturday night I went to bring it back in, but no start. It coughed and sputtered a bit, so I thought it was low on fuel as there is no gauge in the truck yet.

This did not work. I dicked around with it, and nothing. Thought I must have flooded it.

Sunday, I go out, still nothing. Thought perhaps I had some bad fuel and it froze up. Pushed it into the shop, let it sit and warm up.

Monday, still nothing. It tries to fire a few times, but then seems to flood out. At the height of my frustration yesterday this truck could likely have been bought cheap... ha!

It has spark.

I have not really jumped into this yet, but here is my question...

I have always suspected the base gasket to be a little too knarly and beat up. If I was sucking air here would this flood out?

Or perhaps I have a float stuck, etc...

This is a 2 barrel rochester carb.

Any insight?

It wouldn't hurt to replace the base gasket if you think it might be bad. It might be time to rebuild the Carb too, is the choke working like its supposed to?

I used to have a problem like this all the time with my truck it has a Rochester 4 barrel carb. I tinkered with it for a while before it quit doing that I'm not exactly sure what made it start working right when I was done with it, but somethings I did with it that may help yours are I put Sea-foam in the gas tank and got it running good enough to suck some gas and dumped some Sea-foam into the air intake shut it off and let it sit for about 15 minutes then turn it back on let it run for a little bit it seams to have helped quite a bit. I also replaced my fuel filter, adjusted my choke and checked all my vacuum lines to make sure they were working correctly. I'm not sure which one of those did it or if they all had something to do with it, but I haven't had trouble starting it up since that work has been done. Hope you find what's going on with a project this far along its frustrating when it just won't start.

A carb situation would be the first place I would start looking. Those little rochesters come apart so easily that it wouldn't hurt to look inside and see if the float isn't hung up.
