Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well tonight I got all the wires in the back hooked up. This should keep the gremlins out. In doing some research, I found an easy way to get the turn and brake lights hooked up was to use a brake light converter.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
you keeping track of hours!!! reminding me of my last build, just so much wiring and thinking ahead. People only see the outside, maybe inside, but never understand all the work it takes to get a well built truck going.

No I'm not 99, it will be a lot. Yes your are so right!! No one will ever know how much time and effort goes into a build, it's almost sad.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Shops knock this stuff out in a few weeks....lol. It's hard to believe 5 guys can build a rig in that time but it's gonna take me a year or two, haha. I believe those build times you hear of are a bunch of bs though. I'm getting in 20+ hours a week on my build, which is a lot I think. It's easy to think, even if you're the builder, ah just a few wires here, few lines there.....ha, yeah right. Amazing the complexity of all the systems as a whole. Lot going on in an auto, even a simple setup. Looking good as usual Lowers. Chance

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I agree with you guys. It take s a heck of a long time to build something from the ground up. Especially where you can't just un bolt and re bolt it together. Keep at it, you're making great progress!

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Just spent the last 2-3 mornings going through the build. I'm a big fan of seeing old iron being brought back. All I can say is WOW and AMAZING. You've done some really, REALLY cool work - your attention to detail and skills are top-notch - and I can't wait to see you get it finished.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
This morning I hooked up my 3 in one gauge (EGT, Trans temp, Boost). I also got my Transmission controller plugged in and mounted. The switch is for the 2 shifting programs I can have loaded.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Yes it is the stock panel. Mine had 4 holes across it from it's fire truck days. I brought it in to work and machined it out to fit the trans controller.
Thanks AD

Re: My 52 GMC Build
This morning I made a bracket to hold my tack. While it was drying, I finished hooking up my trans controller and it turns on telling me I'm in park, so that's good. I also got my electric brake controller and tack mounted.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I just sent my preregistration $$ for a weekend car show, called Jalopy Jam Up in Durham Ontario August 19-20. I have also committed to go back to the Unfinished Nationals June 5 in Paris Ontario, which is my goal to have the truck driving. I hope the new truck gremlins treat me good.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
This morn I installed the wiper arms. Then figured out where the wiper motor would go. I started with the stock bracket then cut the mounting ears off. Held it up under the dash and it will sit quite nice on the dash support bracket. The hard part was drilling the mounting holes through the gauge holes, the drill was on a 45* angle but it worked. Now I have to make the arm that the wiper arms will attach to and it looks like it will work good.
