Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Started the long slow process of cutting out all the cancer and welding in patch panels.

Yesterday I made my ugly nasty dirty 12 bolt a nice shiny 12 bolt. First pic is after I stripped it. Wish I took one of before... it was bad.

Nice truck 68GWC, nice rims and the 33" tires fit the lift really well.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Pulled it out of the garage and did a little work.

I have quite a bit of little things to do on it so I take it one step at a time, even if it is a small one.

Cleaned up the tail/stop light wiring underneath the bed by the roll pan. Some of it was hanging loose so I supported it.

Installed a universal horn button underneath the dash to the left side of the steering column, it is hard to see where I put it.

I am trying to get it ready for a local car show June 1st. It won't be completely done, but in a road worthy condition. There should be at least six vehicles from our family in it, mostly 67-72 Chevys.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Just got back from a three-week trip on Saturday night. Monday, the new module was waiting for me at the post office.
I put it in this morning and she fired right up. That is, after I cleaned up the mouse house that was built on top of the
battery while I was gone.

Damn! Those mice are fast builders.

Then, since the last thing I finished before we left was installing the Pioneer set-up, I sat in the passenger's seat and watched a music dvd just for grins.

Local show on June 15. My truck's not a "shower". But this is more like a gearhead get together than a show. Maybe sixty cars or so.
Any money made goes to charity.

I'll clean off the wheels and take a chair and some coffee.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Replaced the two power steering lines from the previous owner installed '85 C10 power steering pump (and box) that have been leaking for years. Had to run errands for the wife before I could add PS fluid and "burp" the lines and check for leaks. I'll do that in the AM, as well as washing the engine and underside of the front. Next up, sand/wire brush the peeling bed floor and paint it.

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

As usual ;

You alls did much impressive works .

Sunday 5/19 I was headed out to a three day Road Rally in my vintage Metropolitan Nash FHC , @ 04:30 the gas pickup tube clogged so I had to hop into my unprepared '69 C/10 for the trip .

It was a total blast ! the Falken LT tires and Bilstein HD shocks made the original suspension work great ~ as soon as I got off the freeway and onto those wonderful twisty Farm To Market back roads , I was able to catch & pass almost every other vehicle I encountered including Sports Cars , Motos and one very surprised L.E.O. who looked at my old truck and said it was nice before driving off....

I sure surprised a lot of Farmers and Locals , all of whom were driving much newer vehicles .

The clapped out 250 I6 had NO PROBLEM keeping me going , I kept it to <65 MPH , even on the steepest hills I had no power problems .

I was really worried about how much oil it would take but in spite of at least 7 full tanks of gas , I only used 2 & 1/2 quarts .

Ca Rt's 33 , 245 etc. (we spent three days in Visalia) were mucho fun to tear up ~ I kept thinking the guys with the big V-ates and lowered , tuned suspensions would have loved this .

I still don't even have a front sway bar on this rig .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed a newer 95-99 styled under hood storage box left of the radiator. Mounted to the rad support and used a couple pieces of plumbers strap (temporay til get better straps cut, smoothed and painted) to mount to the fender. Fits great and gives a place to keep P/S fluid, engine oil and rag, etc.

Looks great! Is the fuel pump going to have to relocate? Also, is that a package specific to the 67-72 SWB, or did you have to cut, fit, and weld?

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
