Centerline Champ 500's. They had the 3 bar fake knock-offs but they were confiscated by someone who needed them more than me.

Oh yea I forgot about the Champ 500's. I think just about everybody making wheels in the late 80's and early 90's had a wheel like that. I like the look of them though, they fit the period.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Here is my new one I've had for a few months. Its a 84 swb 350/350turbo. bought truck without motor. Installed the spare 350 I had for my 84 Corvette, RPM performer intake, Edelbrock carb, RV cam, noisy timing gears, headers and full boar single chamber race mufflers. Made a custom hidden hitch behind the license plate, rear air shocks, white face gauges, relocated head unit, replaced every single light bulb in the truck with led's, rear view mirror out of an 04 Silverado with temp and compass along with the sun visors, and just finished putting in new radiator and electric fan. Still need to repaint it find different wheels, replace the interior and find a new windshield.Name: 011 (2).jpg

It appears to be a base model GMC Sierra. No code of that year:

1982-1987

Base model - Chevy Custom Deluxe/GMC Sierra
Z62 - Chevy Scottsdale/GMC High Sierra (Note this change)
Z84 - Discontinued
YE9 - Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra Classic

It is the base trim level Sierra 1500. Only options were the 305 4bbl engine, th350 transmission, air conditioning and rear bumper. (no radio) Still have the window sticker. Paid 7600.00 brand new. MSRP was 10,030.00. Never been into the engine or transmission except to change the distributer. Had to change the seat from the same junk yard 1985 model that I used for the grille. Still runs and drives perfect. I still have the steel 15x7 wheels with the dog dish caps. When tires where out (more like dry rot) I switch rims with fresh tires each time 4 xs so far. Today the odometer reads 70,630 mile and has never rolled.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Picked up this 87 R10 a couple weeks ago...survivor truck still with original paint. Not perfect, but very well taken care of being it's 27yrs old! Here's a few pics.
On the way home with "Ruby"....

Interior:

Engine:

I removed the bed rails and factory bed liner, and put new tires all the way around. The others had great tread but were dry rotted.

I've since removed the push bars up front yesterday (no pic yet). Next step is lowering it a bit...haven't 100% made up my mind on how far yet? But after a few weeks of searching trucks I finally found a truck where the guy had the same ideas (minus the front clip) opinions on how much this truck is lowered?

If those are 20's for the rims, I say that looks like a 4/6 or a 5/7 drop on that truck. I think the person who built that truck is a member on here...

That is bigarmzz's truck he built and sold a few years ago. Here is the thread that lists the wheels/tires that are on it. It says its a 5/7 drop...

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

New to the forum, and WOW there are alot of nice trucks on here!

Here is mine I recently picked up..

-TX truck came north in 2012
-'78 K-10 Big 10, short box 4wd
-Freshly rebuilt 4 spd
-350ci with mild cam (I am told, but have not yet confirmed the cam), Edelbrock carb and intake
-Full length headers with dual exhaust
-12 bolt rear with 3.73 Richmond gears and locker
-10 bolt Dana 44 up front
-4" suspension lift with 35" BFG's
-new full chassis wiring harness
-new cab mounts

It has had alot of recent work, seems as though a full restore was well underway but stopped a bit short.

It still needs a fresh paint job and for the interior to be done nice. (LMC Truck is going to LOVE me!)

It also needs a new rear window as 3 of the 4 pieces of aluminum trim on my sliders are missing leaving quite the air gap when the sliding window is closed. I plan to replace it with a brand new sliding window from LMC truck unless I get advice on a better source that is a little cheaper. Has a couple of small stone chips in the windshield and the door windows are a bit scratched as can be expected for a 36 year old truck. So at some point it will get those replaced as well...

My tentative plans for the color scheme is a dark candy apple red with black rally stripes and keeping the blacked out look with the trim and wheels. I have a used Lund moonvisor coming from a relative on the cheap that will be going on it too. I have always loved the look of a visor on these old trucks.

So here she is...

Lol, you can have mine if you fill the holes and repaint the roof... It was cool when I was a kid, but sure don't like it on there any more...

If only old me could go back in time to kick young me in the @ss....
