Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Well guys I picked up this little beauty yesterday for a decent price! Since my son was born I have been wrestling with the thought of getting something else the whole family can ride in and enjoy to cruises and shows. There are 4 of us and we don't exactly have enough room in the cab of a C10 I wanted to stay in a C10 based vehicle and when I saw this 66 Suburban pop up on my local Craigslist, I had to check it out! The guy wanted $8,500 for it but I talked him down to $6,800. It's all there except for the backseat and is a very clean truck except for a few minor rust issues. The rear cab supports need replacing and it has some small bubbling on the lower passenger door! Other than that it's very nice and has nice paint. The C10 is going to be going up for sale very soon, I'm propabaly going to part it out as I feel I can make more back that way! If anybody is looking for some Porterbuilt, Choppin Block or Wilwood parts, I will be posting these for sale in the parts area over the next couple of days! I don't plan to go as crazy with the suspension on the Burb as I was with the C10. I'm just looking to do a simple setup of bags front and rear on the factory crossmember and trailing arms!

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Thanks, I would have loved to have a blazer like yours but it seems like finding one in decent shape for a good price is like finding a unicorn

Thanks, I love that light blue as well. I'm probably going to paint the top white to give it that classic two tone and break up all the blue. Quote:
Thanks, she is definitely a good looking truck.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Just swap all your suspension parts over to the burb frame.
There aren't many of these burbs out there that lay frame. I'd hate to see all those cool parts leave,...

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
I thought about it but I want to keep the Burb a simple build so that it doesn't spiral out of control and I can actually drive and enjoy it instead of working on it for years. I love the frame laying trucks but it seems to be a snow ball effect that consumes the whole build.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Keep them both, build the truck you've always wanted while you enjoy the burb as it sits! Either way, it looks like a nice score. I'm sure your family will be happy to have the chance to ride along with you.

I wish I could but I can't afford to keep them both, especially with a newborn! Diapers and Formula isn't cheap

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
That's probably a good move, I should do the same. I have no time, I spend most of it with the family. You gonna do a build thread for the burb?

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Don't know if I'm going to do a build thread yet, I'm 0-2 so far on build threads I hear you on having no time, it's the main reason why I'm just going to do a mild build on the Burb and not cut it up to lay frame, I just don't have the time for that labor intensive type of build

What on earth? Hate to see you sell it. I have basically the same truck and parts, needing to sell my project also. Good luck.

Thanks Mike, it's a pretty decent truck. It's not something I saw myself buying a few years ago but I'm very happy i did buy it. Its got all the room I would ever need for the family.

Burb looks great, Keith! Perfect blend of old school and practical. I'm sure the family won't care which ride you build as long as they get to tag along.

Congrats on the new little guy and the Suburban. I agree with your thinking, keep this one simple and drive it. Good luck, and I'll be following along.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Dang! My legs are too short to reach the pedals, Dad!
I remember when the twins next door were little, one would stand in the front seat of my old Ford, grab the steering wheel and pretend they were driving. Then the pushing and shoving would start and all you'd hear is, "It's my turn!"
