Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Had a great day yesterday. Went out and did some target shootin', ate a couple 89 cent grilled chicken burritos, then worked on the blazer...
Got the body scuffed and did some filler work. Still tons more leveling, dang dings.... Slow progress. |

I got a DA, works pretty good. The long sander I borrowed works great with 80grit on leveling big spots.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Nothing interesting, still sanding........ I've got several spots done, just takes some time and a few thin coats for me to get it where I want it.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Big J Got a question; Is the white a epoxy primer? And are you doing filler over that?

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Yep, its epoxy. Roughing up the dings with 80 and filling over that. Once I get that done I'll seal it all up with another coat of epoxy then filler primer then finally, hopefully paint....

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
No doubt. I've gone through a gallon and theres hardly any on the truck. Most of its on the floor and in the trash. I've got a bad habbit of mixing too much and it gets hard before I've got a chance to put it on. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
From the looks we are about at the same build stage. A little on the doors and alot on the floor. Cant seem to stop sanding it down, coworkers wondering whats going on, showing up with white powder in nose ears hair. some kind of addiction

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Got home night before last and had forgot to use the air hose to blow the dust off. My wife looked at me and said, "OMG what is that all over you!". I said, "the bag busted, lol....". Yep its a dirty biz.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Believe it or not I'm still sanding.... Been sick though so not much sanding, lol. Its really close to being ready for epoxy, and its really close to turning cold so I need to shift up into high gear to get it in YELLOW.
Look at how much I waste, theres that much more sanded into dust on the floor, lol. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Just about done with sanding. Just a little more, sanding filler that is. Then comes the epoxy, and more sanding. Then filler primer, and more sanding. Then paint, and maybe some sanding, then buffing. Yep, I got it all planned out,
I took some lag bolts and bolted some chain to the joists in the ceiling. Should work nicely to hang parts from for paint. Got some more filler. Its a nice ugly green color when mixed, lol. |
