Re: How about some pics of "4x4" Blazers, Jimmy's & Burbs?

I took the Green school bus to Hollister the other day. It did everything I asked of it. I usually stay away from the narrow trails, but the rest I'm game for. The bald tires made it slick, but the spool helps.
It makes a great tow point and extraction vehicle.

Here's one of my projects, picked it up not running last year. After a new motor, trans, 3/4 ton axles and new wheels, its ready to go out and play.

Re: How about some pics of "4x4" Blazers, Jimmy's & Burbs?

I know I am spamming this topic, but got a question for you guys.

I am swapping my TH400 with NP208 in my K20 Suburban for a TH700R4 with NP208. The 700 comes from a 87 K5 Blazer. The guy bought a 4L80E and transfercase from a 4x4 Suburban. He can offer me two types of driveshafts:
1. the front and rear driveshaft from the K5 Blazer that had the TH700R4 with NP208
or
2. the front driveshaft from the 4x4 Saburban that had the 4L80E with transfercase

what would be best? or can I just use my own driveshaft, since I also have a NP208 right now.

Here's my '90:

Ignore the white wheel....it's the spare. Had the normal tire on there bulge on me. Getting new tires on either Monday or Tuesday.
Also....the white around the rear windows is where I haven't finished painting yet. Rather than mask of the windows, and weatherstripping I am going to wait until I replace the weatherstripping and window motors. Did the fronts this way, and it made it so much simpler.

Re: How about some pics of "4x4" Blazers, Jimmy's & Burbs?

1st off.. Your 700r4 208 combo is longer than the 400/208combo. Which means that your front shaft will be too long, and your rear too short if you go with the 400/208.

The front shaft from the Blazer is going to be too long(same front shaft), and the rear will be way to short.

If the front shaft from the 4x 4L80E trans is from a IFS truck, I don't think it will work. I think it will bolt up. On IFS diffs, there isn't always a slip joint for the shaft to compress and extend. The IFS diff doesn't move up and down. Straight axle does.

Is it lifted?
