Re: Owen's C10
Looking good! One suggestion, from someone who has put a similar engine in and out of a 71 half a dozen times over the last few months... If you haven't done so already, check to see if your coil packs will fit and clear the firewall. Or, if you're swapping valve covers, you'll need to do that ASAP to see if they clear. I have a feeling you'll be moving your engine forward a few inches.

Re: Owen's C10
Just looking at your pictures it looks like you will have room for the coil brackets if you chose to keep them on the valve covers. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part because you and I are running the same mounts and I hope to keep my coils on the valve covers Either way, all that orange looks awesome in there!

Re: Owen's C10
new valve covers...only one problem. they don't fit! the motor is too close to the firewall..

Re: Owen's C10
So I had to find some room somewhere...and I found it by drilling new holes in the PB motor mounts 3/4" ahead of the previous ones. that gave me just enough room, cause the oil pan would be into the rack and pinion...

Re: Owen's C10
I wasn't happy with the colour the v/c came in, it was close but not close enough, so I gave them a respray with chevy orange and a couple coats of clear. I liked the look of the script orange too so I left it..and it saved some time too.

Re: Owen's C10
Love those valve covers Good to see you could modify your motor mounts a little instead of modifying that beautiful firewall. That would have sucked. I like the way the Trickflow coolant crossover lines look, think I'll have to get those for mine.

Re: Owen's C10
I bought the Trickflow kit that does both front and rear lines, it was another $30 or so but it gives you more braided hose and more fittings...I have enough left for another motor... yeah there was no way in the world I was touching that firewall, I have way too many hours in that, the motor mount trick only took about an hour of my time, and also helped with the steering shaft clearing the #1 header tube... I love the valve covers too, thanks for helping me deside..

Looks great Moose. Used the Trickflow kit on my motor from Summit too. Price was right and looks really nice.

Re: Owen's C10
Thanks Moose and ya it's the midrise. Had the highrise but wouldn't clear the stock hood and I didn't want a cowl.
