Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
heres mine,
when my son was 15 he was making noise about wanting a car, so we told him we;d get him a a car if he learned a foreign language,, thought I was off the hook, since we didnt hear anything for a few weeks then he said he had his first spanish lesson on saturday and he wanted a 68 or 69 Chevelle or something old and cool. we had a budget of $4500 so we started looking for one with the least rusty Chevelle we could find, then one saturday morning we were playing video games and he looks out the window and says " whos that? is that Uncle Chris? Is that his truck ?" and shot out the door to check out my brothers 81 stepside 4 speed K-10, and he thought it was cooler than any Chevelle. we wanted a rust free truck , we got this one from a horse rescue ranch in Az we named it Snowball, since every repair or upgrade turns into a much larger job than intended. and since snowballs pick up stuff as it rolls along. its a 76-77 cab with the shoulder belt anchor holes in the B pillar has 73 doors with the small rollers radiator core support has a 1980 emission sticker 3.73 8 lug axles from a 79 interior is from a 82 when we got the truck it had a poorly running carbed 305 or 350 we ditched the carb for a TBI then later swapped the Sm465 trans for a NV3500 from a 07 silverado along with swapping the NP-205 for a NP-208 then later swapped in a 5.3 from a 2002 with 260K on it gonna add vintage air soon. Looks like a 6.0. Is that the quik performance AC bracket kit? One serpentine belt driving everything?
My 6.0 (6.7 actually) is almost ready to be dropped in. Going to also add the rack and pinion before the front clip goes back on. How is your water pump to radiator hose coming up from the driver side?

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
I guess it now qualifies as an LS swapper because the LS3 finally landed in between the frame rails.

Hows the cold air intake working out sucking thru the fender? I have the same setup right now. Trying to figure out how to route some more air into that box. |

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Rich, as far as I know, the engine has had no complaints with this set-up. I suppose you could create some sort of elbow from the intake side of the air box to the radiator support for a "cold air" effect, if you wanted/needed to, but for my everyday driving, things are just fine. There seem to be no breathing restrictions with the box butted against the fender, and the holes provided by the factory stampings
It just occurred to me that your set-up came from an Izusu (?), so I don't know how your filter box is created. Mine is from the Tahoe, from which the engine came, and the side that butts against the fender has openings for inlet air. Is yours the same? |

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
I grabbed an air cleaner box from a pickup..So I have the same exact setup as you. It seems to take in close to ambient temp air as long as you are moving.

Thank you. I used Speed Engineering Shorties. Wish they had the V clamps when I ordered them. But still fit fine.
