Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Very nice. That is the biggest thing on the square body trucks that bothers me. The door handles just look so cheap and are just plain ugly.

I was considering putting the 67-72 handles on my 78 but the ones you chose are even better. Great job.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

I need to finish the mudd work on the hood i had to beat it with a 4 pound beater and bring out the 2x4,trim here and there and build a side and 3 corners to have the 1/8 gap i have all around. This hood was far from a perfect fit and it was from goodmark, guess it depends on how picky you are

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

i havnt updated the build in a while but progress is coming along. Body work on the hood is complete it took a while but it turned out great, hinges are smooth an gaps and alignment are right on closes and opens effortlessly. It had a 1/2 bow down both sides that i had to bust down with a 2x4 and a 2 pound beater, after doing so i had to bust the torch out because i had to shrink some areas. The technique might be a lil scary for some but when a hammer and dollie wont do it u need the torch to shrink down. For this u need to have a clean surface down to the metal then apply the heat until it turns read to the size of a quarter or so the cool it off with a wet rag. You keep doing so until it minimizes, make sure you give it time to completely cool off after each pass this is critical or you will get false results. For added strength i reinforced the first layer with short strand fiber glass then finished with bondo and glaze. You will be amazed on how much the metal changes from having a belly to applying heat to cool off. But if you feel like its beyond youre ablity dont try it. You will **** **** up warped metal is a biach to fix
