Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

We picked up a new pump/valve assembly (10 gpm) that should raise the bed in about 15-20 secs...made a simple mount to bolt it to the inside of the frame. Clamped it about where it's going to sit...gonna try and get a PTO to pump driveshaft made tomorrow before everybody closes down for the 4th.

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

Nice work on the mount. The large hole looks to be a slip fit over the flange on the pump. Did you machine the hole? Looks too precise for a hole saw. And as I mentioned before, great welds! Could look at them for minutes at a time.

Thanks AD!! I wish we had lathe/mill capabilities, but alas, just grinders, torch, welder, and holesaws...just took my time with it.

Thank you Kim, that means a lot to us!

Additionally, since I don't have any other place to really post this kind of stuff up at...my boy was able to sell the Roadrunner last week for about twice what this new project cost...

We're thinking this is a keeper!!

Yep, we stretched the wheelbase a bit with the newer chassis...it should all be good though!

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

Not much to add other than PTO to pump shaft is in and we're back to patching doors...passenger side this time. We need to get the cab metalwork done and try and get color on this.

Thanks Kim, we're slowly working through the rust and holes on this door. We welded in the hinge access door to match the driver side (PO welded the hinge solid)...the lower part of both doors will be bed-lined. Also filled/smoothed multiple holes from two different sets of "truck" mirrors. We then drilled holes and welded nuts on the backside for a stock type mirror on the passenger side door.

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

We worked through the driver side door, it was in better shape than the pass side...still had over a dozen different holes from mirrors over the years though.
