Yeah, I looked everywhere...even overseas and SMS was the place to go to. They sell half and quarter yards also. My upholsterer Richard's supplier was there when I dropped it off. He was impressed with the quality also. I got my vinyl locally for like $10/yd and i think it was 20% off when i bought it. Its marine grade and has great UV resistance, plus mold resistance, easy clean up and long life. Look locally 1st, you'd be surprised what your local shops carry. Most have the burlap too and the more supplies you can supply the cheaper it is at the upholstery shop.

That is nice material you have there too. I need to get another yard and half for the other 63.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Here's a few more pictures. I wanted to check out the seat belts to the color and the steering wheel since its painted the color i'm doing the interior in. The white really made the seat pop...it was really dark until the white went on.

Heres a pic of the back of the seat. I wanted to stay true to the original open back. I'm going to get a cardboard gas tank cover and have him cover it in vinyl (may attempt this myself).

I think alot of it is the original style cloth / vinyl has a huge nostalgic feel for me. It reminds me of being in my grandparents cars as a kid....The new vehicles are normaly all pleather, leather or cloth and nothing has that classic feel like cloth & vinyl.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

i found a old singer walking foot machine for $400 and i already got the burlap, jute and im going with black vinyl instead of fawn. ima keep the pattern the same and the whiteish strip across mine will remain the same. i also found a guy willing to sell the old clips instead of hog ring, but ima use the hog rings for the burlap and jute as per my bible yellow build book. i also found the visor cardboard just cut the pattern and use the same vinyl for the binding. hope it turns out ok. the same guy is sending an old bench seat for a pattern also...

You'll do fine....just get a big pile of scraps to practice with. I wish I had the patience for sewing something that big. Good luck and waiting on some pics.

Couldn't agree more about the Classic Feel... In the early 80's I had a '66 Impala, and although the seats were all vinyl, the rear speaker and chrome grille in the middle of the rear seat is a styling clue from a better era in car design...

Yes, the interior will be blue w/some white trim work done and the exterior will be the same color blue as the interior.

SMS has most of the deluxe fabric in stock for the 60-66 years.

You are going to love those tires. Did Summit have a road hazard warranty for them? Just curious because I bought mine directly from Coker and I bought road hazard for all 4 and they will replace them for free if anything happens to the whitewall.

I didn't see anything about that, but I will contact Summit and ask. I did get free shipping. Did you purchase the same model? I haven't found anyone locally that has, but haven't heard anything bad about them from the forum.

I didn't get the exact same I bought the BFGoodrich Silvertowns 3" WWW. They are the same size as yours though. Only problem I have had is I didn't sandblast the the 62' wheels I used on the inside of the rim and one of them leaks down. I think it is due to it not sealing well on the rim. I am fixing to pull the trigger on a disc brake conversion so I will have to get new wheels anyways.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

operation save 63 is in full effect. everything is lined up to go pick up the 63 swb bbw fleet saturday. tires, tools, floor jack and come-a-long allready loaded. thanks to bluebomber and another buddy in advance for taking the cruise w/me and for the labor. looks like we'll get wet thanks to mothernature, but it'll happen either way saturday morning. stay tuned for pics.....gotta love the epic road trips stuffed in a cab with a bunch of bowtie gearheads. hoping we can get the cab mounted for transport with 3 guys. seat is removed, so that'll lighten it sum. i'l take the doors off if need be.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

and just my luck, when i went out to get the 4way lug wrench out of the truck, i figured id let the truck run a few minutes since its sat for a week. the brake pedal went to the floor. so i crawled under the truck and it looks like i lost the front pass side wheel cylinder. just glad it went at home and not on the road.....and another good reason to finish the crossmember swap w/disk brakes.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

been a long weekend, but did get the new 63 home yesterday. was a frame and a bunch of parts when we showed up. 3 guys and two bags full of tools, 4 new tires/rims and 2 hours and we had a roller with a cab and bed installed. put the front end parts in the bed of the tow rig and the hood in the bed of the 63. 2.5hr drive and home safely. ill get a couple pics posted tonight and more tomorrow.

Spent a few hours on it today, got the inside removed of all the add on wires that wern't part of the factory harness. Put a correct set of handles in it....it had ford handles. Also had late model buick electric seats which got left behind...thankfully. And the red house carpet was trashed second. The steering wheel will go next. Got the cab pressure washed inside and the front end. Installed front and inner fenders and laid the hood on top. Will help me see what I have for bolts and parts. Have about 90% of what I need to make it a complete truck. Will need new back glass and some window work on the driver side. Locks are all good and all interior components are there, minus dome light cover. Dash has been hacked, but fixable. Put a 67 bench seat I had in it to give me something to sit on to do some of the interior work. Will need rockers and some minor floor patching and a donar trans cover.

Anyways....long tired weekend, will post more tomorrow.

Glad it all worked out. I was holding my breath. If you are happy then I'm glad too. It's a nice truck and worthy of saving.

Agreed and thanks for the tip. Yeah, the truck looks fine for the cost and really looks much better back on the frame from when you 1st saw it and me too. Everything under the cab is super solid, with the only real cab work being the immediate floor in front of the door. I'm not going to do much until I get a clear title back from NC. The only bad thing about classics and crossing state lines, but it should be just fine.

I started a build thread for it here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=619024

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

What I do know is it originally was dark green. 230ci 3 speed muncie drivetrain. Was a base model truck with a big back window. Single speed wipers, thrift heater truck. Been painted twice and has a pretty cool patina. Pretty straight truck. Needs gaskets on the glass, but minus the back window they are solid. Locks work and match for glovebox, ignition and door.
