Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

actually no those caps will stay painted red and black ,then your caps will be left alone he only thing i will do is paint the back side white on the one with the surface rusta and after that they will be waxed and kept clean yes i will be using the tailgate with the dent on the top , i got that tail gate of of the same truck that i got my cab from i have a 68 tail gate that will give a chunk of its life to make this one perfect!

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

well today i cleaned up the floor under the seat and in front of the seat it was filthy but now it is all clean and i gave the tires and rims a good scrubbin so no major porgress today but i did find more screw to screw the heater box on the inside to the fire wall so now all i need is the outside box and i should be set

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

I had a similar dent like that on my original tailgate. I welded a piece of flat stock to it then pulled up on it with a crane. I then used a BFH and still had to add heat to get the dent out. I turned out nice in the end

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

I don't have any pics My tailgate wasn't as bad as yours, I'm just throwing some ideas your way. If you don't have a 10,000lbs over head crane handy maybe you could use an engine hoist or chain block.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

I would try to straighten it before cutting it out. Like I said maybe you could use an engine hoist or something. You could also weld a piece of chain to the top of the dent and pull on that.

I would try the engine hoist too, if it works it'll be a lot easier then cutting that piece out.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

grab all ur buddies, the bigger the better and have them stand on the hoist so it doesnt just start lifting itself off the ground when you start raising the boom on it
