Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Backed the Burb out of the middle bay so I could get the Harley out. Rode to the 50th Friday the Thirteenth Rally in Port Dover Ontario Canada. Thousands upon thousands of people and bikes descended on this beautiful little Lake Erie Port Village. Great time. Super day for a nice 220 mile round trip ride. Tomorrow I'll actually do some work on one of the trucks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
My buddy & I just got my 72 K-10 Surburban running tonight after 2+ months of rebuilding the transmission & transfer case! It spent 2 years in the driveway, not being driven, because it only went backwards and I was lazy. Just the 200lb. cast iron transfer case took us 3 hours using a cherry picker down through the floor, floor jack underneath with a 2x10 board, and all the while pushing with our feet and pulling from up above to get it mounted! It was all worth it ... even though it was throwing serious smoke all the way home from the garage.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Replaced some cancer on my 68 C20. Got the inner rocker, lower A piller ext., front lower piller and kick pannel tacked in. Was tacking in Outer rocker to check door fit, but had to stop and unplug my econotig because of lightning storm. Already lost a computer, modem and big screan TV 3 yrs ago. Not loosing my econotig.
Man, I hate 3D puzzles. Nothing seemed to fit right. Taking longer than I expected, but getting there. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I put a new inside door handle on my daughters 98 surburban. Also bought a new radiator at O'Reillys for my 72 suburban but it got too hot outside. I will try to get it installed in the morning.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
yesterday tore part a 425 I got that I was going to use the heads off of only to find out they arn't as good as the ones I have.....
so today I pulled the heads on the 500 and pulled all the valves out put in new oil rings and lapped them all in.... well except the one that was bent.... I was surprised how well everything came out even after hearing all the horror stories about beating the fire wall back just to make it fit..needless to say the vavle covers came off used the engine hoist to pull the intake off in 1 piece unhooked the exhaust pulled the head bolts ( torqued to 115 lbs 50 years ago) hooked the hoist to it let it sit for 20 min with tention till the gasket let go the lifted it all out cleaned up the valley....tomorrow I'll start soaking the lifters till I get the gaskets on Monday....should have it back together in 2 hours....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I started degreasing the front axle I picked up for the K10 like three months ago. It has disk brakes and even looks like it'll turn better.
My buddy picked up a 2008 Shelby GT500. Looks like the Camaro is gonna get some money and time spent on her just to keep up. I'll let you ladies know how it goes. Last edited by RossRinSD; 08-14-2010 at 09:26 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finally got the time to finish the frame clean up and today my son and I broke out the Eastwood products and got busy. I used Rust Encapsulator and chassis black (satin). Of course during the work party, we discussed using an after-market cross member, and I convinced him to go for it. So, two things to do, install the c-notch and now a new cross member.. then finish those areas ..
